Tan Son Nhat Airport has stopped using loudspeakers to call passengers to board their flights.

Tan Son Nhat International Airport will cease public address systems in both the domestic and international terminals to reduce noise and improve passenger service quality amidst overloaded infrastructure.

Representatives from Tan Son Nhat International Airport announced that, starting July 1, 2019, the international terminal (T2) will cease using microphones (speakers) and automated announcements. Only the "Gate change" announcement will remain. This change will be implemented for the domestic terminal (T1) from October 1st.

All status information will be continuously updated on the FIDS display system and implemented according to the established coordination regulations. Tan Son Nhat International Airport has sent notifications to airlines and ground handling units regarding the implementation plan. Any problems or difficulties will be reported to the airport to ensure the quality of passenger service.

Thus, Tan Son Nhat will be the first airport in Vietnam to stop broadcasting flight information announcements in the terminal. Previously, since the end of 2016, Noi Bai International Airport only broadcast each announcement once in designated areas, also with the aim of reducing noise.

Globally, the trend at major international airports has been to stop broadcasting flight information via loudspeakers in recent years, shifting instead to using FIDS screens to display information related to flights, carriers, routes, departure times, etc.
