The journey from Hanoi to Bac Son
As a passionate traveler and photographer, Duc Hoang always wanted to capture beautiful images of nature, people, and culture on his journeys. The Golden Valley of Bac Son has long been famous for its vibrant beauty during the rice harvest season and is a sought-after destination for many photographers. During a conversation with his photography friends, upon learning that the rice harvest in Bac Son was approaching, the group of four decided to plan a trip to "hunt" for the most beautiful moments there.
Traveling by motorbike, the group set off from Hanoi towards Bac Son. The journey, approximately 150 km, wasn't excessively long, but it offered a pleasant experience. Most of the route was flat and easy to navigate, with only a few mountain passes. Along the way, the group stopped in Dong Lam and Huu Lung for lunch, making the trip less tiring.

Bac Son welcomed the entire group with winding roads embracing terraced rice fields. As they got closer to the valley, the scenery became more majestic and magnificent, leaving Duc Hoang completely overwhelmed. The clear blue sky, dotted with fluffy white clouds, blended with the colors of the ripening rice to create an incredibly vibrant natural landscape.
"What's special is that at this time, only the rice in Bac Son is ripe. In other areas, the fields are either empty or were only planted about 10-15 days ago. Along the route we traveled, we saw a lot of green rice, but in Bac Son, the rice was almost ripe," Duc Hoang said.

The rice harvest season in Bac Son Valley is quite short, and nowadays, harvesting machines are commonly used, so tourists should go early to fully appreciate the beauty of the golden rice fields. In addition, the green rice season also has its own unique beauty, with its peaceful and vibrant atmosphere.
Stopping at a high vantage point, Duc Hoang began "hunting" for the most beautiful moments of the golden valley. The brilliant sunlight poured down like honey onto the ripening rice stalks, making them even more lustrous and shimmering. Gentle breezes blew through, carrying the fragrant scent of rice, creating an incredibly pleasant atmosphere.

According to Duc Hoang, when visiting Bac Son, tourists should not miss the opportunity to conquer Na Lay peak to admire the panoramic view of the majestic valley. The climb to Na Lay peak is quite easy, taking only about 40-50 minutes.
“When you climb to the top of Na Lay and look down into the valley, it’s a completely different feeling, incredibly vast and majestic. Amidst thousands of towering mountains, in the middle lies a field of golden ripe rice,” Duc Hoang exclaimed.

The trip to Bac Son left behind beautiful and unforgettable memories. Not only did Duc Hoang and his friends get to admire the dazzling beauty of the golden valley, but they also had the opportunity to experience the lives of the local people and learn more about the local culture.

“Quynh Son - Bac Son Community Tourism Village has over 400 households and approximately 1,800 people, mainly Tay ethnic people who have been settled here for a long time and bear the surname Duong. The village has a unique craft of making yin-yang roof tiles, a feature you'll see in many old houses still using this type of tile,” Duc Hoang shared.
Along the way, the group also stopped at Dong Lam during the rainy season and enjoyed a very interesting boat tour. Next, they stopped at a tea shop in Nga Hai and swam in the stream nearby. In the afternoon, they arrived in Bac Son, the sun still shining brightly on the fields. Walking along the path through the fields, watching the locals go by, the children running and playing, surrounded by the chirping of birds, gave Duc Hoang an unusually peaceful feeling.
