This proposal has been of interest to businesses, but has not yet been implemented. Mr. Nguyen Quoc Ky, chairman of Vietravel Holdings, said that digital tourism maps are very meaningful for Vietnam tourism in increasing competitiveness and offering good tour prices.
Thailand does very well when tourism systems are connected into a chain from travel, accommodation, transportation, services and all share profits, creating stable and reasonable tour prices.
At a recent meeting on finding solutions for tourism, Mr. Nguyen Huy Dung, Deputy Minister of Information and Communications, also suggested a digital tourism map for tourists because the travel journey begins with searching for information.
Hai Phong is also one of the cities in Vietnam that has a food tour tourist map.
"In the short term, we need a national website and a professional national application. Technology is only a necessary and easy-to-solve condition; data, content and other things related to tourism operations are sufficient conditions," said Mr. Huy Dung.
However, these websites do not replace local tourism portals but link other applications, providing the most information to tourists based on the participation and contributions of individuals and organizations.
According to Mr. Huy Dung, the formation of national digital tourism platforms also facilitates state management and policy making, as well as supports businesses in accessing markets and destinations, especially supporting tourists in accessing information and avoiding confusion.
