This proposal has attracted interest from businesses, but it has not yet been implemented. Mr. Nguyen Quoc Ky, chairman of Vietravel Holdings, believes that a digital tourism map is very significant for Vietnamese tourism in increasing competitiveness and offering better tour prices.
Thailand has done very well in connecting its tourism systems into a chain, encompassing travel agencies, accommodation, transportation, and services, with everyone sharing the profits and creating stable, reasonable tour prices.
At a recent meeting on finding solutions for tourism, Mr. Nguyen Huy Dung, Deputy Minister of Information and Communications, also suggested a digital tourism map for tourists because a travel journey begins with searching for information.
Hai Phong is also one of the cities in Vietnam that has a food tour map.
"In the short term, we need a national website and a professional national application. Technology is only a necessary and easily solvable condition; data, content, and other aspects related to tourism operations are what create the sufficient conditions," said Mr. Huy Dung.
However, these websites do not replace local tourism portals but rather link to other applications, aiming to provide the most information to tourists based on the participation and contributions of individuals and organizations.
According to Mr. Huy Dung, the formation of national-level digital tourism platforms also facilitates state management, policy planning, and supports businesses in accessing markets and customers with destinations, especially helping tourists access information and avoid confusion.
