The Ruong Resort is a resort located in Phuoc Thuan commune, Xuyen Moc district, Ba Ria - Vung Tau province.
Unlike other resorts in the area, The Ruong aims for a secluded retreat model, where individuals can reconnect with themselves and nature. Therefore, what makes The Ruong unique is its harmony with nature and its complete separation from the bustling residential area.
Both the scenery and the architecture evoke familiar images of Vietnamese villages.
Originating from pristine memories.
Established in late 2019, Ms. Duong Huynh - currently the manager of The Ruong Resort - shared with Travellive.
Ms. Duong Huynh, currently manages The Ruong Resort.
"The idea for The Ruong was conceived when the construction team wanted a place to relax that felt like coming home. In our childhood, we always cherished simple memories of thatched-roof houses, so traditional details of the countryside were incorporated to the fullest."
She hopes The Ruong will be a small world nestled within society, with its own slow-paced rhythms and melodies. Just like the place itself, despite being close to the bustling Ho Tram beach resort, it chooses to be tucked away at the end of a village road. Visitors will encounter familiar images of their simple, peaceful homeland, a place they were once connected to, through architecture deeply inspired by rural villages.
A harmonious blend of nature and man-made architecture.
Utilize nature to expand space.
Sustainable development with the local community.
The Ruong is moving towards a green resort trend, with 90% of its workforce being local people, minimizing environmental impact through efforts to avoid the use of single-use plastics.
"The decorative items are all made from environmentally friendly materials and prioritize the use of traditional Vietnamese crafts. The Ruong's business philosophy is to protect the environment while providing income for people in Xuyen Moc district," shared Duong Huynh.
Rustic style blended with modernity
A green vacation that blends tradition and modernity.
The architecture at The Ruong emphasizes rustic charm but still scores points with its modern architectural perspective, creating a sense of creativity and contemporary style.
Spanning approximately 10,000 square meters, The Ruong boasts 21 private bungalows nestled amidst vast, windswept rice paddies. Each bungalow features one or two independent bedrooms depending on the room category, a shared kitchen, and a living room. The entire complex is connected by a large roof with an eaves inspired by a kite soaring in the wind. The walls are plastered with earth, the roofs are thatched with palm leaves, and full-length windows maximize natural light and minimize electricity consumption.

The corridors connecting the different areas are adorned with familiar flowers and plants, along with large trees that create a space always enveloped in the sweet scent of freshly harvested rice and the clean, pure essence of nature. The thatched huts, moss-covered tiled roofs, and wooden rafters—all utilize locally sourced materials. The room decorations are made from porcelain, water hyacinth, and brocade fabrics, creating a friendly and intimate atmosphere that resonates with Vietnamese culture.

Isolated but not detached from amenities.
Visitors can choose from a variety of relaxing experiences such as rejuvenating activities or trying out family-friendly recreational activities like fishing by the lake, or even more exciting options like treasure hunts, kite flying, or traditional games.
Duong Huynh recounts that many tourists, after coming here with their families, have the opportunity for their children to experience the fun folk games associated with their parents' childhoods.
Recharge your energy with relaxing resort services.
The Ruong always offers services that take visitors to natural landscapes within the ecosystem of the Ba Ria - Vung Tau area: Binh Chau hot springs, Hoa Binh waterfall, Tropicana water park, CICADA nature reserve, Bung Rieng sheep hill, etc., for visitors who love physical activity. Yoga sessions connecting with nature, trekking on primeval forest trails with local guides are experiences worth exploring.

Beautiful coastal beaches
In a place like Xuyen Moc, which still retains its pristine beauty, a simple getaway is all that's needed to breathe in the fresh air of the sea and forest. Or, Duong Huynh often suggests that tourists meet and chat with the locals, helping them broaden their understanding of the local culture.
"This southern coastal region is so pristine and unspoiled; just a stroll through the fields can help us rediscover ourselves amidst the hustle and bustle."
Everyone should have a peaceful "sanctuary."
Like other resorts, weekends and holidays are peak times at The Ruong. But Duong Huynh has a more interesting suggestion.
"Personally, I prefer the image of The Ruong on weekdays; it has a peaceful and gentle feel. I think everyone should try visiting The Ruong on a weekday at least once, sitting in the garden drinking tea, strolling through the rice fields watching the sunset to fully enjoy the beauty of nature in Xuyen Moc."

Speaking to Travellive, Duong Huynh also expressed her hope that The Ruong will not limit itself to any fixed clientele in the future. It could be a family with parents and two young children, a group of teenagers, or a female office worker looking for a "hideaway" from the bustling city... Anyone who comes to The Ruong will feel a sense of belonging, a release from the eternal worries of life.
