After two years of travel restrictions due to Covid-19, Vietnamese tourists are more eager to travel than ever. Christmas and New Year holidays, which last until the Lunar New Year, are always the peak tourist season in Vietnam. This year, Vietnamese tourists are choosing to stay within the country because international commercial flights have not yet reopened, as well as concerns about the Omicron variant and rising service costs.
According to online travel platform Booking.com, 80% of Vietnamese travelers said they wanted to make up for missed vacations due to the pandemic, 43% of travelers wanted to visit a lesser-known place instead of a famous destination. Through data from travel booking trends in Vietnam, Booking.com suggests a list of 10 trending destinations selected to prepare for trips in 2022.
The trend of choosing "close to home" destinations
It is not surprising that locations near Ho Chi Minh City such as Thang Tam (Ba Ria - Vung Tau), Tay Ninh and Bien Hoa hold high rankings in the list of 10 popular destinations chosen by many Vietnamese tourists. Due to not being able to travel abroad and fear of outbreaks in key tourist areas, many people have chosen to go to cities near where they live. The trips only last about 1 - 3 days, away from crowded places to ensure a safe and economical vacation.
Thang Tam Commune (Ba Ria - Vung Tau) has long been famous for the Thang Tam Temple relic - a complex of 3 relics: Thang Tam Temple, Ba Temple and Whale Temple. In addition to the ancient architecture and long-standing cultural and historical values, this place is also visited by many tourists to pray for luck and peace.
About 100 km from Ho Chi Minh City, Cao Dai Holy Land - Tay Ninh Holy See is visited by many Vietnamese and international tourists.
Tay Ninh is the “cradle” of Cao Dai religion and owns the “roof” of the South - Ba Den Mountain, 986m high, famous for its wild natural scenery and spiritual architectural complex. Guinness records recognize Ba Den Mountain Station as “the world’s largest cable car station” and Tay Bo Da Son Buddha statue with the record “The tallest bronze Buddha statue in Asia located on the top of the mountain”.
In 2022, Tay Ninh will offer free entrance tickets to Ba Den Mountain to stimulate tourism. Bien Hoa is suitable for picnics and camping trips in harmony with nature at Buu Long tourist area, Bo Cap Vang or Giang Dien waterfall.
"up the mountains, down to the sea" TO FIND a remote, pristine place
While many famous places such as Quang Ninh, Da Nang, Hoi An, Nha Trang, Ho Chi Minh City or Phu Quoc are in a state of desolation and sluggishness, some localities, thanks to their "isolated" terrain, are going against the flow. Limiting contact with large crowds makes many tourists want to find isolated tourist destinations in the heart of the mountains or surrounded by the sea, enjoying the feeling of being one with nature, immersing themselves in the space of diverse ecosystems and fresh air.
Cultural village in Meo Vac, Ha Giang.
Meo Vac (Ha Giang) is a small valley surrounded by limestone mountains, home to the H'Mong ethnic group. According to a survey, 84% of Vietnamese tourists want to experience the local culture here. Those who love adventure, cloud hunting or photography mostly choose to ride their motorbikes up Ma Pi Leng Pass to admire the majestic mountain scenery, with the deep blue Nho Que River winding below and the moss-covered H'Mong stilt houses hidden by the drifting clouds.
Pu Luong is located in the Northwest of Thanh Hoa province, belonging to Ba Thuoc and Quan Hoa districts.
Pu Luong boasts of its natural beauty of forests and magnificent terraced fields. It is the perfect destination for nature lovers who want to explore new lands or ancient villages. Visitors can learn traditional skills such as weaving, embroidery and basket making from the locals.
Cam Ranh is a quiet seaside town located 60 km south of Nha Trang.
