Lake Tahoe is a stunning freshwater lake nestled in the majestic Sierra Nevada mountain range, at an altitude of approximately 1,900 meters above sea level, along the border between California and Nevada. It covers an area of nearly 500 square kilometers.2With a maximum depth of over 500 meters, Tahoe is currently one of the largest freshwater lakes in the world and the second deepest in the United States. Lake Tahoe was formed approximately 2 million years ago due to a fault in the Earth's crust and is part of the Lake Tahoe Basin. According to scientific research, the lake's current shape was formed during the Ice Age.
The natural scenery at Lake Tahoe is often described as a "fairyland." The lake's surface is crystal clear and calm, like a giant mirror, and looks stunning from any angle. Surrounding the lake are snow-capped mountains and vast, lush green forests. Hundreds of rocky outcrops jutting out of the lake resemble giant contemporary works of art when viewed from above.
