Temporarily suspend the organization of spring festivals of the Year of the Tiger nationwide.

29/01/2022

On January 28, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism sent a dispatch to localities, requesting to temporarily suspend the organization of festivals and fireworks displays during the Lunar New Year 2022.

According to the telegram, festival activities as well as fireworks displays during Tet will not be held. For traditional festivals, localities are only allowed to organize the ceremonial part, not the festival part. Cultural, sports, and entertainment activities (film screenings, cultural and artistic performances, karaoke, dance halls, celebration days, etc.) will be organized in a way that is appropriate to the epidemic situation in the area and ensures the safety of people participating.

Tourist areas, attractions, tourism businesses and tourism services must develop plans and schemes to organize activities to serve tourists during the Lunar New Year, and strictly implement measures to prevent and control the Covid-19 epidemic according to regulations.

Previously, Hanoi also announced the suspension of festivals and events that gather large crowds during the 2022 Lunar New Year. One of the largest and longest festivals in the Northern region - Huong Pagoda Festival (in My Duc District, Hanoi) also did not hold an opening ceremony and welcome guests.

This is the second consecutive year that the Huong Pagoda festival has not been held to open or welcome visitors. The My Duc district authorities said that preparations for the 2022 festival had been completed, but due to the complicated developments of the Covid-19 epidemic and the direction of Hanoi city, the organization of the Huong Pagoda festival had to be suspended until further notice.
