The incident occurred on July 27 in Lopburi city (Thailand). Accordingly, a group of wild monkeys were hungry so they went down to the city to find food. When the two groups of monkeys met, a fight broke out, fighting for territory. The two groups of monkeys "fought" right in front of an ancient temple, then chased each other onto a nearby road, causing a traffic jam of up to 4 minutes.
One troop of monkeys is often seen at a local ancient temple where they are fed by tourists. The other troop “occupies” an abandoned cinema.
Despite the lack of foreign tourists, Lopburi residents and Thai tourists still regularly feed the monkeys. The social distancing order, which came into effect in early July due to the new wave of Covid-19, with people staying at home, has caused the monkeys to go hungry again.

Lopburi, located 150 km north of Bangkok, is home to many wild monkeys. Locals believe that monkeys are a symbol of good luck.
Not long ago, in Vietnam, a similar situation occurred when monkeys on the mountain, due to lack of food, found their way down."chaos" the streets of Vung Tau.
Wild monkeys appear on the streets of Vung Tau.
As soon as the incident was discovered, local authorities issued a directive to use food to lure the monkeys back to the mountain, and at the same time called on people to donate food to the wild animals to avoid the above situation from happening again.
