On the afternoon of the first day of the "Returning to the Land of White Rice and Clear Water" experience, actor Quoc Truong and the Amazing Tour 8 team visited Binh Thuy ancient house. Born and raised in Can Tho, this was the actor's first time visiting this place due to his busy schedule.
"This is also an opportunity for me to learn about and explore the beauty of Can Tho through its ancient architecture, and to love and be even more proud of my hometown," actor Quoc Truong shared.

With a history spanning over 150 years, Binh Thuy Ancient House is one of the unique architectural structures that still retains the distinctive ancient beauty of Can Tho. It is considered a place where three architectural styles—Vietnamese, Chinese, and French—intersect.
Stepping through the main gate, one is immediately struck by the three-arched gate built in the Chinese architectural style, featuring a wooden beam system and a roof covered with blue glazed tiles. The top is further adorned with lively figures such as unicorns, goldfish, and flowers. Notably, there are two large signboards: one in Chinese reading "Phước An Hiệu" and one in Vietnamese reading "Phủ thờ họ Dương" (Ancestral Temple of the Dương Family).
With a history spanning over 150 years, Binh Thuy Ancient House is one of the unique architectural structures that still retains the distinctive ancient beauty of Can Tho.
This place is considered a melting pot of three architectural styles: Vietnamese, Chinese, and French.
The Binh Thuy ancient house overwhelmed the members of Amazing Tour 8 with its incredibly refined architecture, featuring intricate carvings on the columns, archways, and even the house's edges. Particularly impressive were the two arched staircases leading into the house and the two large bronze lamps from the French colonial era placed in front of the facade.
The old house was built on a relatively high foundation to prevent flooding in the old Western region. Interestingly, during the construction of the main house, the owner, Mr. Duong, laid a layer of coarse salt about 10 cm thick under the tiled floor. This is a folk practice frequently applied by people in Southern Vietnam when building houses, as laying salt under the floor is believed to both repel insects, improve ventilation, and ward off evil spirits according to feng shui principles.
The architecture is incredibly sophisticated, with intricate carvings on the columns, archways, and even the building's edges.
This place is also impressive with its two prominent arched staircases leading into the house, along with two large bronze lamps from the French colonial era placed in front of the facade.
The architecture of the ancient house in Binh Thuy bears the strong imprint of a blend of Eastern and Western styles. This house breaks away from the traditional three-compartment layout familiar in the Mekong Delta, covering an area of 6,000 square meters.2The house is designed with five sections. The dark, opaque floor tiles are all imported from France. The front, middle, and back sections are built consecutively and separated by intricately carved wooden archways.
The house is filled with antique objects, arranged in perfect harmony. The living room is in a classic European style with a Louis XV French sofa set, a classic chandelier made of white cypress... Other spaces showcase an extremely luxurious Vietnamese style, including: a wine set from the Ming and Qing dynasties, a set of green marble tables and chairs from Yunnan province in China, a 1.2-meter-tall blue glazed jade vase, and an extremely luxurious porcelain tea set... All of these create the image of a prosperous family of that era, something many people envied.
The house contains many antique objects, arranged and displayed in a perfectly balanced manner.
One thing that particularly impressed and endeared the visitors to the owner of the Binh Thuy ancient house was that while the house blended Eastern and Western cultures, the worship area remained purely Vietnamese. This demonstrates the sophistication and aesthetic sense of Mr. Duong, the owner, in embracing new ideas while preserving the soul of the nation.
Upon arriving at Binh Thuy Ancient House, the Amazing Tour 8 group not only admired the beautiful architecture but also learned about the rich history of the place.
