Hue City, the ancient capital with a rich history and culture, is bustling with preparations for a spectacular festival season in March and April 2025. A series of meticulously planned cultural and tourism events promise to offer locals and visitors unforgettable experiences.
The series of events begins with the first Vietnamese Martial Arts Festival, taking place on March 21st and 22nd in the Ngo Mon Gate and Vo Mieu area. This is an opportunity for those who love traditional martial arts to admire top-notch performances and the essence of martial arts that have been preserved and developed through many generations. The festival is not only a place for martial arts masters and students to exchange and learn, but also a chance for visitors to discover the unique cultural values of Vietnamese martial arts.
The city of Hue has recently added several cultural and tourism events to its list of events to be held in March and April of 2025.
Continuing that vibrant atmosphere, the National Tourism Year - Hue 2025 will officially open at 8 PM on March 25th on the banks of the Perfume River, in front of Hue National High School. The opening ceremony, meticulously staged on a vast stage stretching from the water to the riverbank, promises a spectacular cultural feast for the audience. Melodies rich in the cultural identity of six regions of Vietnam, along with the participation of over 3,000 professional and amateur performers, will blend with modern lighting and sound effects, creating a dazzling and enchanting artistic space. Water screens, visual mapping, LED floor lighting, pyrotechnic effects, hot air balloons, paragliding, heavy smoke, sound and light installations... will contribute to creating unforgettable and impressive moments.
Immediately following the opening night on March 26th, Hue city will be bustling with activities and exhibitions commemorating the 50th anniversary of its liberation. This is an opportunity for the people of Hue to recall the glorious history of the nation, while also showcasing the city's development achievements over the past 50 years to visitors.
Notably, for the first time, the two newly established districts of Hue city, Thuan Hoa and Phu Xuan, will jointly organize a traditional boat race. The race course, stretching from the Dong Ba River to the Perfume River, in front of Trinh Cong Son Park, promises to offer spectators thrilling and exciting competitions.
Many activities are promised to be organized on a grand scale and with substantial investment in content.
Just two days after the river performance, visitors will arrive in the mountainous district of A Lưới, where the A Lưới Highland Spring Festival takes place. Young men and women of the Ca Tu, Ta Oih, and Pa Co ethnic groups will welcome visitors with lively flute and gong music. The festival, held on March 28th and 29th at the A Lưới Ethnic Culture Village, offers visitors the opportunity to discover the unique cultures of the ethnic minorities living along the Truong Son mountain range. Visitors will immerse themselves in the songs and dances reflecting the highland culture, enjoy the distinctive local cuisine, and experience the cultural blend between the mountains and the lowlands.
After the vibrant festivities in the highlands of A Lưới, visitors are invited back to the romantic Perfume River to join the sacred procession, traveling upstream to Ngọc Trản Mountain. Here lies Huệ Nam Temple, affectionately known locally as Hòn Chén Temple, dedicated to the Holy Mother Thiên YA Na. Visiting Hòn Chén Temple on March 30th and April 1st, visitors will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in a mystical spiritual atmosphere, joining followers of the Mother Goddess in enchanting songs and dances, and experiencing the harmony between humanity and the divine.
Continuing its series of unique cultural and tourism events, on April 6th, Hue city will welcome athletes participating in the VNExpress Marathon Hue. During this time, visitors will enjoy the Hue Mega Booming music night, a unique musical event where traditional folk melodies are given a new look, blended with modern music to create a vibrant and colorful musical atmosphere.
These activities aim to create more destinations for locals and tourists visiting Hue during this time.
April is also the time when Hue city opens up an exciting playground for those who love ornamental plants. From April 10th to 14th, along the romantic Perfume River, visitors can admire unique and exquisite ornamental plant creations, showcasing the skill and talent of Hue artisans.
From April 26th to May 1st, Hue city will continue to be vibrant with a series of unique cultural and tourism events. Among them, the highlight is the Youth Music Festival, taking place from April 29th to May 1st, promising lively, youthful, and distinctive musical performances. In addition, the Hue International Culinary Exchange Program, held from April 28th to May 3rd, will be an opportunity for visitors to discover the culinary delights of Hue and the world. Activities celebrating the National Reunification Day and the Peace Day will also take place during this period, contributing to a festive and lively atmosphere.
April also marks the beginning of the Summer Festival with the theme "Shining Imperial City," which runs from April to June. This festival will offer visitors unique cultural and tourism experiences, allowing them to explore the beauty of Vietnam's heritage city and characteristic festival city.
