Hue City, the ancient capital with a rich history and culture, is bustling with preparations for a special festival season in March and April 2025. A series of cultural and tourism events are being elaborately invested in, promising to bring locals and visitors unforgettable experiences.
The series of events kicked off with the first Vietnamese Martial Arts Festival, taking place on March 21 and 22 at Ngo Mon and Vo Mieu areas. This is an opportunity for traditional martial arts enthusiasts to admire top performances and martial arts quintessence preserved and developed through many generations. The festival is not only a place for martial arts masters and students to exchange and learn, but also an opportunity for visitors to discover the unique cultural values of Vietnamese martial arts.
Hue City has just added a number of cultural and tourism events to be held in March and April of 2025.
Continuing that vibrant atmosphere, the National Tourism Year - Hue 2025 will officially open at 8:00 p.m. on March 25 on the banks of the Perfume River, in front of Hue National High School. The opening art program is elaborately staged on a large stage, stretching from the water surface to the shore, promising to bring the audience a feast of eye-catching culture. The rich melodies of six cultural regions in the country, along with the participation of more than 3,000 professional and amateur actors, will blend with modern lighting and sound effects, creating a shimmering, magical art space. Water screens, visual mapping, floor LEDs, pyrotechnic effects, hot air balloons, paragliding, heavy smoke, sound and light installations... will contribute to creating impressive, unforgettable moments.
Right after the opening night, on March 26, Hue city will be bustling with exhibition activities, celebrating the 50th anniversary of liberation. This is an opportunity for Hue people to review the heroic history of the nation, and at the same time introduce to tourists the development achievements of the city in the past 50 years.
In particular, for the first time, the two newly established districts of Hue city, Thuan Hoa and Phu Xuan, will jointly organize the traditional boat racing competition. The race track stretches from Dong Ba River to Huong River, in front of Trinh Cong Son Park, promising to bring the audience thrilling and attractive competitions.
Many activities are promised with grand scale of organization and invested content.
Just two days after the performance on the river, visitors will arrive in the mountainous district of A Luoi, where the A Luoi Highland Spring Festival takes place. Ca Tu, Ta Oih, and Pa Co boys and girls will welcome visitors with the melodies of flutes and gongs. The festival takes place on March 28 and 29 at the A Luoi ethnic cultural village, providing an opportunity for visitors to explore the unique cultures of ethnic minorities living along the Truong Son mountain range. Visitors will be able to immerse themselves in the songs and dances imbued with the highland identity, enjoy the typical dishes of the ethnic groups, and feel the cultural exchange between the mountains and the plains.
After the bustling festival days in the A Luoi highlands, visitors are invited to return to the poetic Huong River, to follow the sacred procession, upstream to Ngoc Tran Mountain. Here is located Hue Nam Palace, also affectionately called Hon Chen Palace by the locals, where the Holy Mother Thien YA Na is worshiped. Coming to Hon Chen Palace on March 30 and April 1, visitors will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in the mysterious spiritual space, with the followers of the Mother Goddess in the captivating songs and dances, feeling the harmony between humans and gods.
Continuing the series of special cultural and tourism events, on April 6, Hue city will welcome athletes participating in the VNExpress Marathon Hue. On this occasion, visitors will enjoy the Hue Mega Booming music night, a unique music event, where traditional folk melodies are dressed in a new coat, blending with modern music, creating a colorful and vibrant musical space.
These activities aim to create more destinations for locals and tourists to Hue during this time.
April is also the time when Hue city opens an interesting playground for those who love ornamental plants. From April 10 to 14, on the banks of the poetic Huong River, visitors will admire unique and sophisticated ornamental plant works, demonstrating the ingenuity and talent of Hue artisans.
From April 26 to May 1, Hue city will continue to be bustling with a series of unique cultural and tourism events. In particular, the Music Festival for young people, taking place from April 29 to May 1, promises to bring vibrant, youthful and unique musical performances. In addition, the Hue International Cuisine Exchange program, taking place from April 28 to May 3, will be an opportunity for visitors to explore the quintessence of Hue and international cuisine. Activities to celebrate the national reunification day and the peaceful New Year will also take place on this occasion, contributing to creating a jubilant and bustling festival atmosphere.
April is also the opening month for the Summer Festival with the theme "Shining Capital", lasting from April to June. This festival will bring visitors unique cultural and tourism experiences, exploring the beauty of the heritage city, the typical Festival city of Vietnam.
Events held in March and April 2025 will offer visitors diverse experiences, from traditional festivals imbued with Hue's cultural identity, to contemporary cultural and artistic activities, meeting the needs of many different types of visitors.
Adding more cultural and tourism events in March and April 2025 will not only help extend the length of stay of tourists in Hue, but also create opportunities for tourists to explore more deeply the cultural, historical and people values of Hue.
