The Eiffel Tower will have its 19 layers of paint removed, “replacing the current brown color with a richer yellow,” said Patrick Branco Ruivo, CEO of the company that operates the tower. It’s a dangerous process because workers are exposed to lead, so strict health protocols are required.
The tower renovation process has been going on since 2019.
In addition, the 324m high tower will also be fitted with 18,000 pieces of metal (these metals are connected together by 2.5 million rivets). The estimated cost to renovate the Eiffel Tower is expected to be up to 50 million euros (nearly 1395 trillion VND).
The upgrade is expected to be completed in 2022.
