Recently, the global hotel group The Lux Collective has signed a strategic agreement with PQ Hai Quoc Joint Stock Company to manage a luxury resort. The resort is built in the Maldives style, with villas floating on the water in the waters of Phu Quoc, Vietnam. The project, named LUXNAM* Phu Quoc, is located in one of the most sought-after destinations in Asia, and is expected to open around the end of 2024.

“We are honored to partner with PQ Hai Quoc Joint Stock Company to manage this unique resort. The project is built on the northern coast of Phu Quoc, surrounded by a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, spanning over 314,000 square meters of rich flora and fauna, lush forests and majestic mountains. This is the first beautiful Maldives-style resort in Vietnam and the region,” said Mr. Paul Jones, CEO of The Lux Collective, at the event.
Unique architecture of LUXNAM* Phu Quoc
“The resort is built in a modern tropical architectural style, inspired by the tropics, full of energy. With sustainability at the center, LUXNAM* Phu Quoc brings natural beauty to every resort space, thereby inspiring civilized tourists who are looking for destinations close to nature, with sophisticated and minimalist design," said Mr. Tran Anh Duy, CEO of PQ Hai Quoc Joint Stock Company.
Responding to Travellive, Mr. Christopher Chua, co-founder of Kulor Group, who is responsible for designing the project, said that the resort will be shaped like a dragon. This is a traditional symbol of the Vietnamese people, symbolizing development and prosperity. Christopher Chua's team has 20 years of experience building resorts, especially in places with rich natural landscapes such as Maldives, Bali, and Ecuador. Therefore, Kulor Group is capable of creating a product that is both architecturally unique and in harmony with the natural landscape.

LUXNAM* Phu Quoc blends into nature while still maintaining architectural beauty.
"Creating the dragon-shaped resort was not difficult. We spent a lot of time researching which part of the dragon should face the sea and which part should be in the forest," said Christopher Chua.
When starting construction, Christopher Chua and his team always started the architecture from the mainland first, they decided inside the forest as the place to put the dragon's tail. Then, Christopher built the villas clinging to the forest to the floating house area on the sea, all 2 architectural subdivisions are connected by a 4 km long pier. LUXNAM* Phu Quoc includes 126 villas, of which 109 have private pools and are built on the water, 13 beach villas, 02 penthouses, 02 sea-view villas and private villas and penthouses from 01 to 05 bedrooms.
"LUX* Resorts & Hotels is a hotel brand targeting the luxury customer segment, so we always decorate with bright and luxurious colors. In particular, we have to choose suitable color schemes so that the architecture is both colorful and does not clash with the surrounding landscape," said Christopher.
The locality of LUXNAM* Phu Quoc
When asked about how LUXNAM* Phu Quoc preserves its unique architectural features while still blending in with the surrounding landscape, Mr. Christopher said that the materials are the key. Before building the resort, Christopher's team researched and found out what kind of products local artisans could create. After that, LUXNAM* used all construction materials in Phu Quoc and tried not to import any more.
"The authenticity of the resort comes from the materials used to build it. To ensure sustainable tourism and environmental protection, we use wood from old boats and houses that are reused to make furniture, walls, and to build treehouse restaurants," Christopher told Travellive.
The leaders of The Lux Collective and PQ Hai Quoc interacted and answered questions from the press.
Mr. Paul Jones, CEO of The Lux Collective, commented that Vietnam is a rising star in the tourism industry in Southeast Asia. The CEO named successful tourist destinations in the domestic market of Vietnam such as Nha Trang and Da Nang. For him, Phu Quoc is a hidden gem with untapped potential.
"The advantage of Vietnam tourism, especially Phu Quoc, comes from the beautiful natural landscape and friendly, approachable Vietnamese people," commented Mr. Paul Jones.
The Lux Collective has seen a surge in tourism demand since the end of the Covid-19 pandemic, especially in the number of tourists interested in Vietnam. Paul Jones affirmed that he has strong confidence in the recovery of Vietnam's tourism industry, which is a strong market in the future. Another sign that the number of tourists continues to increase is that Korea, Taiwan, and Europe are gradually opening up. The LUX brand has great potential in the European market. Therefore, the birth of LUXNAM* Phu Quoc will attract many tourists from all over the world.

"The Vietnamese government has issued many policies to help investors stimulate national tourism. We cooperate with local authorities and connect with many other foreign partners to develop tourism in Phu Quoc. From there, we can build a solid tourism market from there," Mr. Paul Jones shared with Travellive.
