Within the framework of the programCommunity Job ATMandATM at community hostelThe Vietnam Youth Social Work Center has established a 24/7 office with a team of volunteers to receive information about needs related to employment and free accommodation.
According to Mr. Nguyen Thanh Han, Director of the Center, the recent outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic has led to a significant increase in unemployment and underemployment rates in the community.
"Many workers from other provinces and cities who came to Ho Chi Minh City to work got stuck during the pandemic and couldn't return home, leading to them being unable to afford rent. On the other hand, we often see scattered images of homeless people on the streets, with the number increasing rapidly; they have to sleep under bridges or on the sidewalks of people's houses, which is very pitiful. The dream of having a good night's sleep seems simple for us, but it's incredibly difficult for them," Mr. Han shared.
Therefore, Mr. Han launched the program.Community Job ATMandATM at community hostelThis aims to alleviate some of the burden and worries of people facing difficulties. It will serve as a bridge connecting the recruitment needs of businesses and the job-seeking needs of the people. At the same time, it will connect those seeking accommodation with community housing options during this challenging time.
Mr. Han expressed his hope that the program would receive more support from businesses and landlords. "Currently, there are many kind-hearted families willing to provide temporary accommodation for those in need and without a place to live," Mr. Han added.
Community Job ATMandATM at community hostelCompletely free of charge, the aim is to contribute to Ho Chi Minh City's efforts to share difficulties and support vulnerable people. This will help stabilize people's lives and maintain business operations to overcome the pandemic.
