On the morning of August 10th, sources from the National Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology confirmed that an additional 494,400 doses of AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccine from the COVAX mechanism had arrived at Noi Bai Airport. These vaccines have now been transferred to the Institute's storage facility.
Thus, the total number of Covid-19 vaccines supported for Vietnam through the COVAX mechanism to date is more than 9.1 million doses, including more than 5 million doses of Moderna vaccine and more than 4 million doses of AstraZeneca vaccine.

In Vietnam, on February 1, 2021, the AstraZeneca vaccine was conditionally approved by the Ministry of Health for urgent needs in the prevention and control of the Covid-19 epidemic. This was the first Covid-19 vaccine licensed for use in Vietnam, and also the most widely used vaccine in the country.
Besides AstraZeneca, Vietnam has granted emergency authorization for five other COVID-19 vaccines: Sputnik V, Pfizer/BioNTec, Sinopharm, and Janssen. To date, Vietnam has received a total of approximately 19 million doses of vaccine (over 11.5 million doses of AstraZeneca, 5 million doses of Moderna, 1.5 million doses of Sinopharm, 746,000 doses of Pfizer, and 12,000 doses of Sputnik V).
According to a bulletin released by the Ministry of Health this morning, Vietnam has administered nearly 10 million doses of the Covid-19 vaccine, with more than one million people having received both doses.
