“Hanoi in autumn, Hanoi autumn,
The milk flower season comes, the scent of every breeze,
The green rice season comes, fragrant little hands,
"Sidewalk milk rice flakes, fragrant footsteps"
Every mid-August, those melodies resound, just as the image of Hanoi in autumn appears in the memories of countless people. Autumn comes, Hanoi changes its appearance, more romantic, more dreamy and also more gentle.
"I was born and raised in Hanoi, so I can say that I have spent nearly thirty autumns here. Although I have experienced many things, every year the feeling of excitement and anticipation for those cool days to come is always the same, never changing," shared Nguyen My Linh - a photographer in Hanoi, who has a passion for capturing every moment of the capital with emotional frames.
The capital signals autumn with cool weather, streets covered with yellow leaves and the faint scent of milk flowers.
Each season, Hanoi has its own beauty. But perhaps autumn is still a strong impression in the souls of many people. The delicate combination of cool breeze, clear blue sky, falling yellow leaves, and flower-laden carts seem to carry the autumn sky on all the streets. Famous streets such as Phan Dinh Phung and Hoang Dieu are also dressed in a gentle and charming look like Hanoi girls, further showcasing the beauty of autumn in Hanoi.
"Autumn also brings the characteristic scent of milk flowers, the season of young green rice. Although green rice is sold almost all year round, green rice in autumn is still a specialty that cannot be found anywhere else. The very ordinary streets seem to become more 'romantic' and peaceful when autumn comes," My Linh confided.
It is not difficult to see green rice stalls on the street.
Young green rice is full of the flavor of heaven and earth, a typical feature of autumn in Hanoi.
Hanoians silently welcome and admire autumn with all their senses. No fuss, just quietly and gently like an early morning, sitting in a sidewalk cafe, chatting a few stories, and just watching autumn drift by the street, creeping over every roof, every corner of the old alley...
Tourists coming to Hanoi during this time also take the opportunity to admire the autumn everywhere. Sharing with Travellive, My Linh said that tourists can take photos and check in with flower carts on Phan Dinh Phung Street, buy green rice to enjoy with friends, sit and drink lemon tea at the Great Church, or enjoy a delicious cup of egg coffee in the cold weather, which is also an experience worth trying.
Strolling around the familiar streets...
Or sitting in a cafe watching people passing by are poetic moments that many people choose to welcome autumn.
Sitting in a cafe next to the Great Church, listening to the bells ringing every morning and evening, blending with the sounds of the old town, is also a memorable experience.
For My Linh, watching the streets covered in fallen yellow leaves on Phan Dinh Phung Street is what she looks forward to every autumn. Phan Dinh Phung Street is probably the most beautiful street in Hanoi, with two rows of old, straight, leafy dracontomelon trees. In autumn, this street is brilliant with magical rays of light passing through the hundreds of years old trees. This street attracts the most young men and women to take pictures, when under the gentle sunlight of autumn, the fallen leaves dye the streets into romantic golden corners.
Stopping by here, you can also see the very unique beauty of Hanoi, bicycles loaded with blooming butterfly flowers, pure daisies, brilliant aster flowers still covered with morning dew. On a clear autumn day, people on the street also take the opportunity to stop by the flower stalls along the road to bring home a bit of the poetry of the golden season. At this time, each mossy street corner seems to be adorned with many outstanding colors, full of life.

To have beautiful autumn photos of Hanoi, My Linh does not hesitate to share her secret: "I think everyone will have their own perspective. Autumn in Hanoi has many things that people can take pictures of, can keep the moments that only come once a year. And I am very happy that my autumn photos are well received and shared by many people. Each photo is a story, the most important thing is still the 'feeling', putting emotions into each photo and the love for the city where you were born and raised. No matter what device you use to take pictures, camera or phone, the ultimate goal is still to save what you have experienced."
