Ancient library preserves Irish history

The ancient library located on the campus of Trinity College (Dublin, Ireland) is said to be the place that preserves intact the most typical historical and cultural values ​​of the Republic of Ireland.

Inaugurated in 1732, Trinity College Library originally had a flat plaster ceiling. But over time, as the book collection grew, the library needed to be expanded to accommodate more books. In 1860, the ceiling was raised, forming a dome. The upper floors were used for book storage, creating a large, overwhelming space.

Today, there are more than 200,000 ancient books preserved and this number continues to increase because it is estimated that the time to complete the preservation alone will take several decades.
