During a surprise trip to Rach Gia - Ha Tien to satisfy his love of seafood, Huy Bao (29 years old, Dong Thap) did not expect to have a memorable opportunity to visit Phu Dung ancient temple.
“I came to Ha Tien without any specific plans, just a sudden trip with my best friend. However, that surprise brought me to Phu Dung ancient pagoda, a peaceful stop in the middle of the river region”, Huy Bao shared about the chance to come to this ancient pagoda.

Phu Dung Pagoda also has another name, Phu Cu Pagoda, located at the foot of Binh San Mountain, Binh San Ward, Ha Tien City, Kien Giang
Unique architecture and relaxing space
Huy Bao's first impression of Phu Dung ancient pagoda was its elaborate and sophisticated architecture. "The pagoda has a very unique beauty, a blend of traditional style and modern details. Small paths wind around the pagoda, where the yellow, orange, brown and green tones of the trees are harmoniously combined. This creates an extremely peaceful and pleasant space," he described. Indeed, Phu Dung ancient pagoda is not only a place of worship, but also an outstanding architectural highlight in the area with a blend of nature and the skillful hands of humans.

Although it has undergone many renovations, this place still retains its characteristic ancient architecture.
The pagoda is located right at the foot of Binh San Mountain, a sacred mountain of Ha Tien. Huy Bao added: “Behind the pagoda is a path leading up the mountain, from there you can look down on the pagoda grounds, listen to the birds chirping and enjoy the cool breeze. That landscape makes me feel peaceful, as if all the worries of life have temporarily subsided.”
Mysterious legends and historical appeal
Phu Dung ancient temple attracts not only by its architectural beauty but also by its mysterious historical stories. When coming here, Huy Bao heard the legend between Governor Mac Thien Tich and Ai Co - a beautiful but tragic love story.
Due to the jealousy of his first wife, Ai Co was locked in an upside down pot for a long time. Although she was lucky to escape death, she later decided to become a nun because she was tired of the world. After her death, the Governor built a pot-shaped tomb to commemorate their old love.

This place not only has spiritual value but also possesses many beautiful landscapes, helping visitors find peace of mind.
“When a monk at the temple told me this story, I found it very interesting. Every land has its own unique story, and Phu Dung ancient temple is no exception. That makes me love this temple even more,” he said.
It is these anecdotes that have contributed to enriching Huy Bao’s experience. The temple is not only a place of meditation but also a living testament to history, containing cultural beauty that cannot fade over time.

Nature blends with spirituality
For Huy Bao, another special thing about Phu Dung ancient temple is the perfect blend of architecture and nature. “The temple has a very large and airy space, suitable for those who like to walk and sightsee. The paths around the temple are surrounded by trees and flowers, making me feel close to nature,” Huy Bao expressed.
Although he did not participate in the typical religious activities at the temple, he still clearly felt the sacredness and peace. “I only burned incense in the main hall, but with the quiet space and the echoing sound of the temple bell, it was an unforgettable experience,” he added.

Inside the temple there are still many Buddha statues, paintings, precious antiques...
An ideal destination for tourists who love meditation
For those who are looking for a place to stop and find tranquility, Huy Bao affirms that Phu Dung ancient temple is a destination not to be missed. “With all the feelings that I have experienced, Phu Dung ancient temple is truly a place worth visiting. This will be an ideal destination for those who love meditation and spiritual tourism,” he said.
For tourists who plan to visit Phu Dung ancient temple in their schedule, Huy Bao noted: "You should choose polite, discreet clothes and comfortable shoes for convenient movement. You can come here most months of the year, except for the rainy season in the West."
