Vietnam is considered one of the five fastest-recovering markets for South Korean tourism. In 2022, 185,000 Vietnamese tourists chose Vietnam as their destination after international travel restarted. This is an extremely positive figure, demonstrating the potential of the Vietnamese market to reach pre-pandemic levels.
Recognizing this immense potential, Jeonbuk Province hopes to attract more Vietnamese tourists in 2023 by organizing a tourism promotion seminar to provide a more specific and appealing perspective for tourism companies, serving the development of tours and getting closer to Vietnamese tourists.
Jeonbuk Province hopes to attract more Vietnamese tourists in 2023.
The workshop was attended by delegates from the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, the Hanoi Department of Tourism, the Vietnam MICE Tourism Association, more than 50 travel companies in Vietnam, representatives of airlines, and domestic media outlets.
As part of the program, a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) will be signed between Jeonbuk Province and two travel companies, Vietravel Hanoi and Saigon Tourist, committing to jointly promote and develop tourism products for Jeonbuk in the future. The signing of this MOU demonstrates Jeonbuk Province's interest in the Vietnamese market and its determination to attract Vietnamese tourists in the future.
Jeollabuk-do is famous for its traditional beauty, including Jeonju Village with its 700-year-old Hanok houses; its rich traditional cuisine with dishes like Bibimbap, grilled meat, Makgeolli rice wine, and especially the traditional Korean Hanjeongsik dinner table; Jeonbuk is also the birthplace of Taekwondo, home to the world's largest Taekwondo stadium. Visiting Jeonbuk means experiencing beautiful natural scenery such as cherry blossoms on Mount Mai in spring, the majestic Mount Jirisan with its cool waterfalls in summer, the magnificent Mount Naejangsan with its golden leaves in autumn, and the snow-capped Mount Deokyo in winter.
“This tourism seminar in Vietnam is a valuable opportunity for us to get closer to Vietnamese travel agencies and tourists to introduce the hidden beauty of Jeollabuk-do. This year, Jeollabuk-do is hosting the ASIA PACIFIC MASTERS GAMES 2023 and SAEMANGEUM WORLD SCOUT JAMBOREE 2023. Through these large-scale events, I hope that travel companies and tourists in Vietnam will learn more about Jeonbuk and choose Jeonbuk as a destination in their upcoming travel itineraries,” said Mr. Kim Kwan-Young, Governor of Jeollabuk-do Province.
