On April 29th, the Department of Tourism, in coordination with the Saigon - Gia Dinh Armed Forces Resistance Tradition Club, officially introduced the "Following the Footsteps of the Saigon Commandos" tour program to tourists. This is the result of a year of research, evaluation, and refinement of the destinations in the tour package, and is being introduced to commemorate the 45th anniversary of the complete liberation of Southern Vietnam and the reunification of the country (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2020).

Mr. Bui Ta Hoang Vu, Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism, said: “The ‘Following the Footsteps of the Saigon Commandos’ tourism program is one of the products that has received the attention and guidance of the city's leaders. It is a unique and distinctive tourism product exclusive to Saigon – Ho Chi Minh City. The program aims not only to preserve for future generations a particularly heroic period of the nation's history by showcasing the unique organization, activities, and operations of the Saigon Commandos, but also to introduce the patriotic and peace-loving Vietnamese people to international friends.”

The program is designed to include half-day and full-day tours. Visitors experience transportation between destinations using vehicles previously used by the Saigon Commando Unit, such as Honda 67s, Honda Dames, and classic cars. The destinations in the "Following in the Footsteps of the Saigon Commandos" tour series are equipped with modern information technology applications combined with practical experiences, built upon the actual operational methods of the Saigon Commando Unit during the resistance war.

Historical sites and "bases" of the Saigon Commando Unit have become unique destinations, such as: the Saigon Commando Unit's base with Dai Han Rice and Do Phu Coffee, the National Historical Monument - where the Saigon Commando Unit's secret weapons were hidden, or the Smart Museum, preserving historical stories about the operation and artifacts of the Saigon Commando Unit, the special national historical monument Independence Palace,...

By participating in this tour, visitors not only get to experience life as a soldier in the Saigon Commando Force but also meet historical witnesses of the Saigon Commando Force: Mr. Phan Van Hon, Ms. Minh Nghia, Mr. Muoi Tho, along with the participation of Mr. Tran Vu Binh - son of the late Saigon Commando soldier and Hero of the People's Armed Forces Tran Van Lai.
