Domestic tours simultaneously reduce prices to stimulate demand

Many tourism service providers are looking for every way to reduce prices, give away vouchers or sell cheap combos to stimulate the market and attract domestic and foreign tourists.

With the price of a Da Nang beach tour combo starting from only 2.3 million VND, Ms. Nguyen Thi Phuong (a travel service provider on Hang Bong Street, Hanoi) said that if during the April 30 - May 1 holiday, this travel combo would cost about 3.5 million VND, the unit has now lowered the price of many combos and tours to stimulate market demand.

According to Ms. Phuong, in addition to preferential policies on prices, some tourism service providers are currently organizing many programs to give away vouchers (paid vouchers) to increase the ability to reach domestic and foreign customers when economic and service sectors gradually recover.

“For example, with a beach tour combo of 2.3 million VND, tourists will be able to use services such as a newly built 3-star hotel located on My Khe beach (Da Nang), a free daily breakfast buffet, and free use of the swimming pool by the sea... Lowering the price of these combos and tours will have a huge impact on customers' psychology. Many other units are even willing to reduce prices by 10-30% for groups of guests, and 5% for individual guests" - Ms. Phuong informed.

Similarly, Mr. Pham Tuan Hung (an employee of a travel agency in Duong Noi ward, Ha Dong district) also posted an advertisement for selling many travel combos with great discounts. Mr. Hung said that during the summer vacation, many customers often choose to buy combos, beach tours, and resort tours at prices that are not too expensive, suitable for their income.

Currently, his company has some outstanding travel combos, chosen by many domestic customers such as the 3-day, 2-night Ha Long Bay combo from only 1.6 million VND. With this cost, combo buyers will be able to use comprehensive services such as hotels, buffets, and use common amenities on the cruise when visiting Ha Long Bay.

Increase incentives to stimulate market demand

Recent data from the General Statistics Office shows that in May 2023, the tourism industry served 12.5 million domestic visitors (of which 8.3 million stayed). Also according to the General Statistics Office, in the past 5 months, revenue from accommodation and food services reached 268.3 trillion VND, up 22.1%; travel and tourism reached 11.6 trillion VND, up 89.4% over the same period last year due to many holidays in the month. Online travel company Agoda recently informed that among Asian destinations, tourism in the domestic market of Vietnam is only behind the domestic markets of Japan and Thailand. Thus, Vietnam has increased 2 places compared to 2019 - the time before the COVID-19 outbreak.

Referring to this content, Mr. Nguyen Ngoc An - Deputy General Director of Vietluxtour Travel Company - analyzed that in 2023, not only the domestic market, many foreign tourism markets have been and are having stimulus programs to attract Vietnamese tourists. Therefore, in addition to the need for domestic vacations for families, foreign tours are also a priority choice of customers.

Many destinations such as Thailand, Bali (Indonesia), and China are also "racing" to stimulate demand and reduce prices to attract Vietnamese tourists, so domestic tourism will hardly avoid competition without a specific strategy.

Mr. Nguyen Ngoc An also oriented that in order for domestic tourism not to lose its advantage, there needs to be closer connections between airlines, travel companies, tourism service providers, and the State also needs to support large-scale stimulus policies for the tourism industry.
