A special musical performance titled "The Little Prince" - a story told through music by French composer and conductor Marc-Olivier Dupin - will take place over two days, June 23-24.
This occasion marks the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between France and Vietnam, as well as the 80th anniversary of the publication of The Little Prince by the famous French writer Antoine de Saint-Exupéry.
The program features a performance by the Vietnam Symphony Orchestra. Actress Hứa Thanh Tú will be the narrator, speaking in French (with Vietnamese subtitles), while a screen will project paintings by Joann Sfar. These illustrations by Joann Sfar bring a "modern touch and fresh energy" to this legendary work, while also conveying the full spirit of the author Saint-Exupéry to the audience.
Delegates attending the press conference on June 20th.
French Ambassador Nicolas Warnery stated that the program not only brings a modern twist and fresh energy to this legendary work but also fully conveys the spirit of the author Saint-Exupéry to the audience.
From Thomas De Koninck's quote, "Man always questions himself about the meaning of life and all its related aspects. But perhaps the most miraculous thing is that children, by their very nature, have the ability to touch upon the deepest questions of human existence," the French ambassador said that The Little Prince is a remarkable, concise yet philosophical story that gracefully addresses profound questions about life such as love, death, and destiny.
Under the direction of French composer Marc-Olivier Dupin, the Vietnam Symphony Orchestra will perform a musical work composed by him. Marc-Olivier Dupin's *The Little Prince* is a symphony full of "freedom and poetic richness," "a subtle contrast to the famous work of Saint-Exupéry." Through the narration of Hứa Thanh Tú and the expressive imagery of Joann Sfar, the symphony invites us to contemplate the melancholic poetry of human existence and awaken the dormant childhood within each person's soul.
In the first part of the performance, the violins of the Vietnam Symphony Orchestra and the talented artist Bui Cong Duy, under the direction of conductor Tetsuji Honna, will lead us to explore the work "Se chi luon kim" (Threading the Needle). This is a famous Vietnamese folk song, arranged by composer Tran Manh Hung, along with two classic works by two renowned French composers: "L'Introduction et Rondo capriccioso" in A minor by Camille Saint-Saëns and "A Reflection" from the opera "Thaïs" by Jules Massenet.
Antoine de Saint-Exupéry's "The Little Prince" is the world's best-selling literary work and the most translated book after the Bible and the Quran. It has been translated into over 542 different languages and dialects worldwide. "The Little Prince" has been adapted into numerous art forms and media, including recordings, radio broadcasts, live performances, films, television, ballet, and opera.
