Zedenko Krabich, a 42-year-old tourist from Croatia, was on a trip to the Red Sea resort of Safaga in southeastern Egypt for medical treatment.

After completing his sand therapy treatment for his bone problems, Krabich said he would head south to Luxor and Aswan for further travel.

According to Xinhua News Agency, like many other tourists, Krabich chose Egypt because it has many cultural and recreational tourist attractions, offering a great experience at a lower cost than other countries in the region.

Tourism in Egypt has boomed partly due to the depreciation of the Egyptian pound, which has reduced travel costs for tourists. Jagdish, a cardiologist from the United States, decided to spend 20 days traveling in Egypt. He visited many places, including the Valley of the Kings as well as the temples of Karnak, Hatshepsut, Edfu, Kom Ombo, and Abu Simbel. Jagdish noted that he chose the longer trip because of the significant depreciation of the Egyptian pound against the US dollar.

According to the Central Bank of Egypt, the value of the Egyptian pound has depreciated significantly over the past year. As a result, tourists can save more money compared to previous years, despite rising entrance fees to attractions and hotel prices in Egypt. Ahmed Abu Zeid, a tour guide in Luxor and Aswan, is optimistic about the tourism outlook. “I have never seen such a large number of tourists in southern Egypt in my 20 years as a tour guide. I believe the next tourist season, starting in October, will see a doubling of visitors,” Zeid stated.
