The "Legendary Truong Son Road - Chi Huy Cave" eco-tourism area in Phong Nha has just officially opened, bringing a completely new tourist experience, combining historical depth and majestic natural beauty. The highlight of this journey is Chi Huy Cave (also known as NH Cave), an important historical relic that used to be the strategic logistics depot of the 559 Command during the arduous years of the resistance war against the US to save the country.
With an impressive length of 150m, a width of 100m and a unique 7-storey structure, Chi Huy Cave has been meticulously restored into a vivid exhibition space, where every corner tells the heroic stories of the legendary Truong Son road. On the first day of its launch, this unique experience attracted nearly 500 visitors, including international tourists, demonstrating the strong appeal of this new tourism product.
The entrance to the tourist area uses a model of two cannons.
The journey back in time begins with a trip across “Road K”, a winding road under the dense forest canopy, reminiscent of the ancient Truong Son trail. Once inside the exhibition area inside the Command Cave, visitors will be able to see with their own eyes the road-clearing tools, logistical goods, and bomb shells – iconic artifacts of the war.
Through the winding closed road (road K) under the dense forest canopy and high slope, visitors will relive the heroic years of the nation.
The special thing is that the space inside the Command Cave is vividly recreated with 7 distinct functional floors, from the emergency medical treatment area, the reserve warehouse, the important command communication area, to the simple resting place of the soldiers. Each floor, each room is restored in detail, helping visitors clearly feel the life and secret activities of our army and people underground.
Many souvenirs of soldiers, youth volunteers, and militia on the frontline
Tourists feel more clearly the brutality of war through historical evidence.
The tour's special feature is the virtual reality projection area integrated with 9D technology. Here, visitors will have a rare opportunity to "transform" into a soldier driving a Zil-131, overcoming the dangerous Route 20 in a rain of bombs and bullets. With vivid 360-degree images, combined with wind effects, realistic gunpowder smell and synchronized movements, each segment of this experience promises to bring strong and realistic emotions, helping visitors better understand the fierceness of war and the bravery of soldiers.
In the tourist area, there are many places recreating soldiers, youth volunteers, frontline workers, traffic workers... using many primitive tools to open Road 20 Quyet Thang.
According to the leader of the People's Committee of Quang Tri province, the tourism product "Legendary Truong Son Road - Chi Huy Cave" is an important part of the project on eco-tourism, resort and entertainment in Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park for the period 2021 - 2030 approved by the Provincial People's Committee. This shows the orientation of sustainable tourism development, harmoniously combining historical education and nature conservation.
Veterans enjoy seeing old objects again
To ensure quality and long-term development, the Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park Management Board is required to continue to closely coordinate with relevant departments and branches to improve management quality, ensure absolute safety for visitors, focus on the conservation of precious natural resources and historical relics, and preserve a clean and beautiful landscape. The goal is to bring visitors impressive multi-sensory exploration journeys, contributing to honoring the majestic and limitless beauty of the Phong Nha - Ke Bang cave system, creating a new and unique highlight on the Vietnam tourism map.
