The "Legendary Truong Son Road - Command Cave" eco-tourism area in Phong Nha has officially opened, offering a completely new travel experience, combining historical depth with magnificent natural beauty. The highlight of this journey is Command Cave (also known as NH Cave), an important historical site that once served as a strategic logistics depot for the 559 Command during the arduous years of the war against the US.
With an impressive length of 150m, a width of 100m, and a unique 7-story structure, the Command Cave has been meticulously restored into a vibrant exhibition space, where every nook and cranny tells heroic stories about the legendary Truong Son Road. On its opening day, this unique experience attracted nearly 500 visitors, including international tourists, demonstrating the strong appeal of this novel tourism product.
The entrance to the tourist area features a model of two cannons.
The visitor's journey "back in time" begins with crossing "Road K," a winding path meandering through the dense forest, reminiscent of the old Truong Son trail. Upon entering the exhibition area inside the Command Cave, visitors will be able to see firsthand the tools used for road construction, logistical supplies, and bomb casings – symbolic artifacts of the war.
Traveling along the winding, secluded road (Road K) beneath the dense forest and steep slopes, visitors will relive the glorious years of the nation.
What makes it special is that the interior of the Command Cave is vividly recreated with seven distinct functional levels, from the emergency medical treatment area and goods storage to the crucial command and communication area, and even the simple resting place for the soldiers. Each level and each room is meticulously reconstructed, allowing visitors to clearly feel the secret life and activities of our army and people underground.
Many mementos of soldiers, volunteer youth, and frontline militia.
Visitors gain a clearer understanding of the brutality of war through historical evidence.
A highlight of the tour is the virtual reality area incorporating 9D technology. Here, visitors will have the rare opportunity to "transform" into a soldier driving a Zil-131 tank, navigating the perilous Route 20 amidst bombing and shelling. With vivid 360-degree images, combined with realistic wind effects, the smell of gunpowder, and synchronized movements, each segment of this experience promises to deliver powerful and authentic emotions, helping visitors better understand the brutality of war and the courage of the soldiers.
The tourist area features many places that recreate the lives of soldiers, volunteer youth, civilian workers on the front lines, and transportation workers... using various rudimentary tools to build the 20th Victory Road.
According to the leaders of the Quang Tri Provincial People's Committee, the tourism product "Legendary Truong Son Road - Commander's Cave" is an important part of the Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park eco-tourism, resort, and entertainment project for the period 2021-2030, which has been approved by the Provincial People's Committee. This demonstrates the orientation towards sustainable tourism development, harmoniously combining historical education and nature conservation.
The veterans were delighted to see old items again.
To ensure quality and long-term development, the Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park Management Board is required to continue to closely coordinate with relevant departments and agencies to improve management quality, ensure absolute safety for tourists, focus on the conservation of valuable natural resources and historical relics, and maintain a clean and beautiful environment. The goal is to provide tourists with impressive multi-sensory exploration journeys, contributing to the celebration of the majestic and limitless beauty of the Phong Nha - Ke Bang cave system, creating a new and unique highlight on the Vietnamese tourism map.
