Which international tours are popular with Vietnamese tourists during Tet (Lunar New Year)?

Traveling abroad during the Lunar New Year holiday has become increasingly popular in recent years. These tours attract tourists because they offer many new and attractive destinations, and the cost per trip is not too expensive.

In addition, many tour operators have recognized the needs of tourists and are offering attractive tour packages during the Lunar New Year holiday. Improvements in infrastructure, transportation services, and safety standards have made international travel easier and more convenient than before.

Speaking to Travellive, a representative from Vivu Journeys said: "This year, overseas tours account for over 60% compared to 40% of domestic tours because overseas tour prices are quite attractive. China has also recently reopened many new tours with reasonable prices. Some other destinations that are still attracting tourists include Taiwan, South Korea, Japan, and Bali, with itineraries suitable for the Lunar New Year holiday."

Tet, the Lunar New Year, is the most special time of year for Vietnamese people, and the addition of new international travel routes opens up many exciting options for tourists. This is not only an opportunity to explore new destinations, but also a chance to share memorable moments with family and friends.

"Currently, four tours are receiving special attention from tourists, including Bali, Taiwan, South Korea, and Japan. Among them, Bali is attracting particular attention with an estimated tour cost of around 13 million VND, along with the advantage of warm weather, stunning seascapes, and numerous temples and pagodas, suitable for families who want to combine spring travel with temple visits. Compared to normal times, prices may differ by about 20% due to increased airfare. The tour mainly focuses on the afternoon of the second day of Tet, after everyone has completed the ancestral worship rituals and New Year greetings to their families on the first day," a representative from Vivu Journeys shared.

In addition, the number of international tourists visiting Vietnam during Tet (Lunar New Year) is lower than usual. Tourism companies have informed international tourists about Tet holiday arrangements and additional surcharges, so foreign tourists are limiting their travel during this period.

Bali

Traveling to Bali during the Lunar New Year is a memorable experience with many exciting activities and destinations. Visitors can explore famous landmarks such as Uluwatu Temple, Tanah Lot Temple, Ubud National Park, and Campuhan Valley. Participating in cultural and traditional festivals is also a unique way to experience the New Year in Bali: Tawur Kesanga, the Nyepi rain-praying ceremony, and the Ogoh-Ogoh festival.

Take a leisurely stroll through the suburbs, enjoy an elephant ride on Campuhan Ridge Walk, participate in a Balinese cooking class, or join a picnic and snorkeling tour. Vietnamese visitors can also savor local Balinese cuisine with specialties such as Mie Goreng (fried noodles), Nasi Goreng (fried rice), and Sate (grilled meat).

Taiwan

Exploring the vibrant Lunar New Year neighborhoods in Taiwan, such as Taipei and Kaohsiung, adorned with colorful lanterns, or savoring the flavors of local cuisine are experiences not to be missed when visiting. Additionally, Vietnamese visitors can explore famous tourist attractions like Chiang Kai-shek Tower, Jiufen Old Town, and Taipei 101.

Immerse yourself in nature in Taiwan by hiking in Yangmingshan National Park, visiting Shifen Waterfall, or strolling along the beaches in Kenting.

Taiwan is known as a culinary paradise with a wide variety of delicious dishes, from street food to high-end restaurants. During the Lunar New Year, you can enjoy traditional dishes such as zongzi (rice dumplings), spring rolls, and vegetarian options.

Korea

South Korea has many traditional festivals during the Lunar New Year, such as Seollal. You can participate in traditional activities like lion dances and enjoy traditional Korean food. Lantern festivals are often held in many locations throughout South Korea, creating a vibrant and warm festive atmosphere.

During the Lunar New Year holiday, tourists can explore famous landmarks such as Gyeongbokgung Palace, Changdeokgung Palace, N Seoul Tower, and Myeongdong shopping district.

Enjoy traditional dishes such as tteokguk (chicken noodles), jeon (fried rice cakes), and yakgwa (sweet rice cakes). You can also visit local markets to shop for food and New Year decorations.

Japan

New Year's in Japan is called "Oshogatsu" and is considered the most important time of the year.
