As a native of Dong Thap, Huy Bao (29 years old) had the opportunity to visit Sa Dec flower village when people here were busy with the Tet season. Last year, the economy was difficult, but the local people here still eagerly prepared for the end of the year with an optimistic and positive spirit.
"I haven't had a chance to talk about the glass flower making profession with the uncles and aunts here, but I have a friend who also does the profession. Every time Tet comes, my friend and family members are always busy doing all kinds of big and small things. From taking care of and watering plants, preparing pots, fertilizing, arranging flowers to transport and sell to customers... along with the housework.
In fact, each profession has its own difficulties, especially this year due to the impact of the global economy, the lives of ornamental flower growers have been somewhat affected by increased fertilizer prices and transportation costs. However, they always try to preserve the craft village, maintain the beauty of the ornamental plants and colorful flower pots here to beautify Sa Dec in particular and the Mekong Delta in general," Huy Bao confided.
