Currently working in the field of graphic design, Mr. Nguyen Cong Cuong has used materials from the Northern countryside to create vivid oil paintings using AI technology. The series of paintings recreates the image of the old countryside, both realistic, familiar and rustic, simple. These are images of thatched roofs, village roads, Tet flower markets and bustling scenes.
The oil painting series “Welcoming Spring” was inspired by author Cong Cuong’s own memories of Tet in the past: “I was born and raised in a rural area of Ninh Binh province but have been away from home for nearly 15 years. For me, the inspiration comes from homesickness or maybe the place where I was born has many beautiful scenes so those images are deeply imprinted in my mind.”

“The memories I remember most when making this series of paintings are the summer afternoons when I hid from my parents to go swimming in the river, the times I played with friends in the fields after the rice harvest with the smell of straw during the harvest season, and many other memories that I can never get back…”, the author confided.

Talking to Travellive, Mr. Cong Cuong did not hesitate to share the secret to creating a unique oil painting: “With AI technology, it only takes a few seconds to create an image. The longest time is probably the idea generation and editing according to your own ideas. Then analyze what features, genres, and colors should appear in the painting. AI Art is controlled by text and keywords, so the execution time is quite fast.”
In the future, Mr. Cong Cuong will focus on digital technology to create more unique paintings of culture, people, and landscapes to spread the image and identity of Vietnam to everyone in the country and internationally. In addition, he also plans to create basic tutorials for those who are not good at drawing to be able to create their own paintings and images with the help of AI technology.
