Children's Day May 5 is associated with the image of colorful Koinobori carp flags made of cloth (in Japanese, Koi means carp, Nobori means flag, banner) longer than 3m, hung on high poles in front of balconies or in the yard.

The origin of these carp flags comes from an ancient Chinese legend when a carp swam across the fierce Yellow River to transform into a dragon. Therefore, the image of a carp jumping over the Dragon Gate to transform into a dragon has become a symbol of strength and courage to overcome fierce rapids and difficulties to achieve success in life. The custom of hanging carp flags on Children's Day in every Japanese family is also to pray for the children to be healthy and successful like the carp.

Having become an annual and traditional activity for the Japanese community in Vietnam, as well as tourists and residents of the capital, in late April and early May this year, Nikko Hanoi Hotel will open its doors to welcome guests to visit and experience Golden Week and Japanese Children's Day, with many interesting activities for families, held at the hotel from April 27 to May 6.
