Hoi An (Quang Nam) will continue to attract tourists, both domestic and international, due to its inherent values. Phu Quoc will soon revive as both the government and those working in the tourism industry gradually change their approach to tourists and services.
Besides already popular overseas destinations, countries in Central Asia are likely to see strong growth in the number of Vietnamese tourists, as they appeal to young, adventurous travelers, with a growing trend in countries like Pakistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Kazakhstan. Among popular destinations, Japan is expected to continue experiencing strong growth in 2023 due to its more liberal policies.

Travel trends 2024
According to Nhi Dang, in the last two years, many new types of tourism have emerged, such as Wellness Retreats (relaxation combined with therapy), green tourism, and slow tourism. These types of tourism are receiving increasing attention, especially regarding their sustainability, therapeutic value, and humanistic aspects.
"Most of my friends and those around me travel less frequently than before 2020, but prioritize peaceful and sustainable experiences. The more I travel, the farther I go, the more I tend to 'slow down' and 'focus on depth,' exploring sustainable values for nature, culture, and community," Nhi Dang said.
Which domestic and international destinations will attract tourists in 2024?
Besides the familiar tourist attractions, Nhi Dang believes that domestic destinations such as An Giang, Ho Tram, Can Gio, and Cao Bang will attract many tourists in the new year.
Abroad, due to the 2024 Paris Olympics, France will attract a large number of tourists, including many Vietnamese visitors. In addition, destinations with beautiful natural scenery such as Pakistan, Japan, or Mongolia will be suitable choices. These places also have simpler procedures than before.

From the 20th to the 23rd of the 12th lunar month, the Mekong Delta is an ideal destination for flower viewing in Sa Dec village (Dong Thap province). From the 23rd of the 12th lunar month, Binh Dong wharf (District 8) in Ho Chi Minh City is bustling with boats and trucks carrying flowers from the Mekong Delta. Tourists should visit the area near the large market where there is a street selling home decorations. From the 25th to the 27th of the 12th lunar month, Ong Ta intersection (Tan Binh district) is the place to see people busily selecting banana leaves for wrapping cakes. Khoa believes that travel trends in 2024 will not see any truly significant changes compared to 2023. People will still gradually gravitate towards small group trips, family outings, and visits to campsites and recreational areas to connect with nature.
Which domestic and international destinations will attract tourists in 2024?
New and exciting destinations, especially adventure tourism spots, will attract a lot of attention in the new year. The Northwest region of Vietnam always appeals to tourists, regardless of the time of year. For coastal and island destinations, Phu Quy and Phu Quoc continue to attract a large number of visitors. Older destinations that consistently see renewed popularity include Hoi An and Da Nang.
What are some great destinations for the Lunar New Year holiday?
This Lunar New Year, Vietnamese people will gradually avoid overly crowded places. They will seek out quiet, peaceful places, campsites, and areas with recreational activities that allow them to immerse themselves in nature. Tourists will also return to their hometowns or visit community tourism destinations in Quang Tri or Quang Binh.

Ha Giang and Phu Yen, with their rich experiences, cuisine, and beautiful scenery, continue to be popular tourist destinations. Overseas destinations for Vietnamese travelers will become more appealing due to simpler procedures and lower costs, such as East Asian countries (China, Japan, South Korea) and Mongolia (which recently implemented visa exemption).

2024 will be a year of budget-tightening for travel enthusiasts, so they will choose more unusual routes rather than just traveling for leisure. If they decide to travel, they will opt for skiing in South Korea and Japan, or trips to snowy regions like Harbin in China.
