On the occasion of the 67th anniversary of the liberation of Hanoi Capital (October 10, 1954 - October 10, 2021), on October 8, 2021, the Vietnam Museum of Fine Arts will open an online exhibition called "Memories of Hanoi" at the fanpage addresshttps://www.facebook.com/baotangmythuatand on the museum's website (vnfam.vn).
The exhibition displays 25 paintings and graphics using various materials such as lacquer, oil, silk, gouache, watercolor, pencil, wood carving... selected from the Museum's collection.

The representative of the Vietnam Fine Arts Museum said that the works displayed in this exhibition with rich visual language, unique style and imprint, and passionate love for Hanoi, the artists seem to bring the public back to the historical days, the early days of the resistance war when Hanoi was resilient and brave, holding back and exhausting the enemy's strength, preserving forces to prepare for a long resistance war.
Those proud images are clearly shown through works such as "Resistance" (scorched earth scene) by Le Quoc Loc, "Resistance Capital" by Nguyen Quang Phong, "Battle Citadel" by Le Anh Van...
After 9 years of resistance war, Hanoi was peaceful in the brilliant atmosphere of flags and flowers welcoming the army to liberate the capital, recreated through works such as "Hanoi Liberation Night" by Le Thanh Duc, "Hang Duong Street" by Trinh Huu Ngoc, "Liberation Joy" by Tran Khanh Chuong...
Painting "Hanoi Liberation Night" by Le Thanh Duc
In the early days after peace was established, the bustling atmosphere of Hanoi during festivals, or the elegance, grace and beauty of the people of Trang An were always favored by authors, successfully portrayed through many works such as "Spring at Hoan Kiem Lake" by Nguyen Tu Nghiem, "Knitting" by Tran Van Can, "In the coal furnace of Yen Phu power plant" by Tran Dinh Tho...
Visiting this exhibition, the public can also admire works about famous landmarks of Hanoi such as Uncle Ho's Stilt House, Hoan Kiem Lake, Ngoc Son Temple, Temple of Literature, Quan Chuong Gate... Despite the ups and downs of history, these scenic spots always leave unforgettable memories for people who come here.
The Vietnam Fine Arts Museum hopes that the exhibition “Memories of Hanoi” will bring the public a meaningful gift on the occasion of the anniversary of the capital's liberation.
