14/08/2021

Recently, Italy discovered and dismantled a large-scale counterfeit "Green Pass" ring, right after the country's government issued a regulation requiring citizens to present the card to participate in social activities.

Police, media and prosecutors from the cities of Rome, Milan and Bari have launched a large-scale operation called “Fake Pass” to stop the online sale of fake green cards. Authorities have raided and arrested administrators of 32 Telegram channels that specialize in forging these digital certificates.

According to initial investigations, thousands of people have registered to buy fake green cards through the above Telegram channels. After users provide information about their name, place of residence and health insurance card, these Telegram channels will proceed to fake digital certificates about Covid-19 with prices ranging from 150 - 500 euros (equivalent to 4 - 13 million VND).
