Reporting to the National Assembly on the afternoon of July 25, Minister Nguyen Thanh Long said that in July alone, more than 12 million doses of vaccine will be transferred to localities with epidemics; provinces and cities that are economic locomotives and other provinces, to vaccinate priority subjects according to Resolution 21 of the Government as well as at the request of localities.
Up to now, we have made commitments, agreements, contracts and received many sources of aid from China, the US, Japan, Australia, the UK and other countries, with a quantity of over 130 million doses and are working to negotiate and sign over 40 million doses to bring the total to 170 million doses of vaccine in 2021.
Minister Nguyen Thanh Long also said that we currently have 3 technology transfer contracts signed with Russia, the US, and Japan. With Russia, we have completed phase 1 of processing and packaging the Sputnik-V vaccine and are undergoing quality inspection in Russia. In August, the vaccine will be packaged in Vietnam and move to the technology transfer phase by the end of this year.
As for the contract with the US, the transfer of the highest-level vaccine technology will be tested in August. The factory with a capacity of over 100 million doses has been built and is preparing to go into operation in the first 6 months of 2022.
Currently, the nationwide vaccination campaign has been launched and is accelerating from now until the end of the year, the Minister emphasized.
