Research results from a university in the US show that people who drink coffee are less likely to get Covid-19 than those who do not.

The information was published in the nutrition journal Nutrients by researchers at Northwestern University. Accordingly, the research team conducted a survey of the diets of more than 40,000 adults in the UK to examine the correlation between foods such as coffee, tea, meat and fish,... with the risk of Covid-19.

The results showed that people who drank at least one cup of coffee a day had a 10% lower risk of contracting Covid-19 than those who did not drink coffee.

Scientists have shown that coffee contains antioxidants and anti-inflammatory substances, which are good for health if used in the right dosage. Regular coffee drinking can also reduce the risk of pneumonia in the elderly.

The study was conducted from 2006 to present. Previously, the Northwestern University research team found a correlation between coffee consumption and inflammatory biomarkers such as CRP, interleukin-6 (IL-6) and tumor necrosis factor I (TNF-I). Since 2020, scientists have shifted their research to examine the ability of coffee to enhance the immune system against the SARS-CoV-2 virus.

In addition to coffee, increasing the amount of green vegetables in your diet and limiting the amount of processed meat you eat can also help reduce the risk of Covid-19 infection, research shows.

However, scientists also recommend that people have a reasonable diet to ensure health. Dr. Vivek Jha, senior consultant at Fortis Hospital (India) advises not to drink more than 3-4 cups of coffee per day.
