Ms. Nguyen Hoa (Long Bien, Hanoi) said that she booked air tickets for her whole family of 4 adults and 2 children to Phu Quoc in mid-July, but the ticket price increased, plus the cost of a 3-4 star hotel room, not including food and drink, was nearly 30-35 million VND.
Ms. Hoa said that the cheapest ticket price of Vietjet for each person for the round trip from Hanoi to Phu Quoc is more than 3.7 million VND/ticket, which means that a family of 6 people spent nearly 19 million VND on tickets. At the same time, during previous summer travel occasions, tickets were only about 9 - 12 million VND for 6 people.
Phu Quoc is a destination chosen by many tourists.
Airline ticket agents confirm that it is not easy to buy at a discount price during the summer. If there are only 1-2 seats on a flight that is open for sale at a cheap price, but with taxes and fees, it will cost up to millions of dong. "Gasoline prices have increased sharply, there is no way that airlines will reduce ticket prices. The closer you buy tickets to the departure date, the more expensive they will be. To proactively choose the flight time and reasonable price, passengers need to buy tickets early," said Ms. Ngoc Lan, an airline ticket agent.
Mr. Nguyen Cong Hoan, General Director of Flamingo Redtours Company, said that during the summer, the number of domestic tourists has increased 3-4 times compared to the past two years. In particular, this summer has seen an explosion of MICE (meetings, incentives, conferences and seminars) groups, with large numbers ranging from several hundred to several thousand people.
In May alone, the company provided services to more than 30,000 MICE guests. This number continued to increase sharply in June - July. For example, in July, Flamingo Redtours served large groups of guests, some of them up to 2,500 people. Destinations often chosen by MICE guests are Sam Son (Thanh Hoa), Ha Long (Quang Ninh), Phu Quoc, Da Nang...
Statistics from companies such as Saigontourist, TST tourist, Vietravel... show that group tours have increased sharply both domestically and internationally, such as Phu Quoc, Northeast, Northwest, Da Nang tours; Dubai, Thailand... In particular, summer tour prices have increased compared to the end of the first quarter of 2022 (up 5 - 7% on some high-demand routes). Prices of many other services in the tourism supply chain have also increased by 10 - 30%.
According to the General Department of Tourism, in the first five months of the year, international visitors to Vietnam reached 365,300, 4.5 times higher than the same period last year; domestic tourists reached about 48.6 million; total revenue from tourists is estimated at 211,000 billion VND.
