Vietnam is becoming a favorite destination for Indonesians.

The Indonesian newspaper Tempo published an article stating that Vietnam's tourism industry is experiencing strong growth and that Vietnam is becoming an increasingly popular destination for Indonesians.

The number of foreign tourists visiting Vietnam between January and March reached 4.6 million, a 3.2% increase compared to the pre-pandemic period in 2019. This figure represents a 72% increase compared to last year and is 25% of this year's target of 18 million foreign visitors. This is the first time the number of foreign tourists has exceeded pre-pandemic figures since Vietnam reopened its borders in March 2022.

Accordingly, the cost of travel in Vietnam is also an important factor, especially the more affordable airfare and hotel prices compared to other destinations in Southeast Asia. The newspaper shared information that while tours to Ha Long Bay, Ho Chi Minh City, and Hanoi are very popular, Sa Pa and Phu Quoc are currently gaining favor with Indonesian tourists, especially during the winter holidays. Vietnam attracts MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) groups, families, and adventure tourists because the country offers more experiential travel, which is very popular with Indonesians.

According to the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, although the number of Indonesian tourists visiting Vietnam is not yet large, there are many favorable conditions in the future to help develop this market.
