Vietnam exempts visas for citizens of 12 countries until 2028

Within the next 3 years, citizens of the 12 countries below will be exempted from visas to enter Vietnam with a temporary stay of 45 days from the date of entry, regardless of passport type or purpose of entry.

The Government has just issued Resolution No. 44/NQ-CP dated March 7, 2025 on visa exemption for citizens of the following countries: Federal Republic of Germany, French Republic, Italian Republic, Kingdom of Spain, United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, Russian Federation, Japan, Republic of Korea, Kingdom of Denmark, Kingdom of Sweden, Kingdom of Norway and Republic of Finland.

The Resolution clearly states that visa exemption is granted to citizens of the following countries: Federal Republic of Germany, French Republic, Italian Republic, Kingdom of Spain, United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, Russian Federation, Japan, Republic of Korea, Kingdom of Denmark, Kingdom of Sweden, Kingdom of Norway and Republic of Finland with a temporary stay of 45 days from the date of entry, regardless of passport type or purpose of entry, on the basis of fully meeting the entry conditions as prescribed by Vietnamese law.

The visa exemption policy when entering Vietnam for citizens of the above countries will be implemented from March 15, 2025 to March 14, 2028 and will be considered for extension according to the provisions of Vietnamese law.

Resolution No. 32/NQ-CP dated March 15, 2022 and Resolution No. 128/NQ-CP dated August 14, 2023 of the Government expire from March 15, 2025.

In the first two months of 2025, Vietnam welcomed 3.96 million international visitors, an increase of 30.2% over the same period in 2024. The government's breakthrough move on this visa relaxation policy is expected to become a lever for Vietnam's tourism industry, aiming to welcome 22-23 million international visitors in 2025.
