The 2021 United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP26) was held at a critical juncture when humanity faced two crises simultaneously: the Covid-19 pandemic and the climate emergency. This was an opportunity for nations to unite and address the most serious threats in human history, and young people are an indispensable part of this process.
The Vietnam Youth4Climate climate change portal was created to provide a learning space where young people can access reliable information on climate science, agriculture and forestry, energy, waste, etc., in the context of Vietnam. Climate policies and science topics on the portal will be updated to be relevant to young people, enabling them to find youth-led climate projects and continuously update data on the direction of those projects.

Through the Youth Climate Change Portal, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) will support youth capacity building, empower youth-led climate initiatives, and create a conducive environment for youth to access green jobs and pursue sustainable lifestyles.
"We want to call on all colleagues and partners to join us in collaborating to create new mechanisms that foster an environment where young people can rise up and fulfill their roles as agents of change towards a greener and more sustainable future," emphasized Terence D. Jones, Acting Resident Representative of UNDP in Vietnam.
Mr. Terence D. Jones also stated that UNDP will continue to prioritize supporting and strengthening climate action by Vietnamese youth in the coming years, by establishing a network of training of trainees (TOT) on various climate-related topics, and fostering knowledge among the 100 most outstanding young people to expand the climate learning community to thousands, even millions, of young people in Vietnam across all 63 provinces and cities.
