According to statistics from online travel booking platform Agoda, Vietnam ranked fourth in the list of most searched destinations in the second half of 2020. Above Vietnam are Taiwan, Japan and Thailand.
Vietnam is the fourth most visited destination in the world.
The Covid-19 situation has seen positive changes in many destinations, so travel regulations have been relaxed, and the desire to travel will increase after many months of staying at home. Agoda's survey results also show that tourists both want to go to faraway destinations and choose to travel domestically more. Also because of the epidemic, the search trend has shifted from famous tourist destinations to less known destinations with more natural landscapes such as mountains and beaches than cities.
The survey also showed differences among different groups of visitors. Solo travelers showed great interest in Vietnam, with the S-shaped country ranking fourth on the list, after Taiwan, Japan, and Thailand. For family travelers, Vietnam was in the top three most favorite destinations, after Taiwan and Thailand.
Nha Trang is the top choice for couples and solo travelers alike.
In the Vietnamese market, support for domestic tourism is absolute when no foreign destination appears on the list of all tourist groups. Nha Trang (Khanh Hoa) is the number one choice for all groups of tourists (couples and singles). This city has beaten Da Nang to win the championship this year. In 2019, Nha Trang ranked only 7th in the list of choices for solo tourists.
Ranked second in the list of most favorite destinations for Vietnamese tourists is Phu Quoc (Kien Giang). The following three positions belong to Da Nang, Vung Tau (Ba Ria - Vung Tau) and Da Lat (Lam Dong). In the list of favorite destinations for couples, Da Nang ranks second. The remaining three positions belong to Phu Quoc, Vung Tau and Da Lat.
