Vietnam ranks among the top 4 most desirable destinations for international tourists.

According to statistics from the online travel booking platform Agoda, Vietnam ranked fourth on the list of most searched destinations in the second half of 2020. Taiwan, Japan, and Thailand ranked above Vietnam in that order.

With the Covid-19 situation improving in many destinations, travel restrictions have been eased, and the desire to travel is likely to increase after months of staying home. Agoda's survey also shows that travelers are increasingly seeking out more distant destinations while also opting for domestic travel. Due to the pandemic, search trends have shifted from well-known tourist spots to lesser-known locations with abundant natural landscapes like mountains and beaches, rather than major cities.

The survey also revealed differences across different travel groups. Solo travelers showed great interest in Vietnam, with the country ranking fourth on the list, after Taiwan, Japan, and Thailand. For families, Vietnam was among the top three most popular destinations, after Taiwan and Thailand.

In the Vietnamese market, support for domestic tourism is overwhelming, with no foreign destinations appearing on the lists of any travel group. Nha Trang (Khanh Hoa) is the number one choice for all groups (couples and solo travelers). This city has surpassed Da Nang to claim the top spot this year. In 2019, Nha Trang ranked only 7th among solo travelers.

Ranked second on the list of most popular destinations for Vietnamese tourists is Phu Quoc (Kien Giang). The following three positions are held by Da Nang, Vung Tau (Ba Ria - Vung Tau), and Da Lat (Lam Dong). In the list of favorite destinations for couples, Da Nang ranks second, with Phu Quoc, Vung Tau, and Da Lat occupying the remaining three positions.
