After a long period of battling the Covid-19 pandemic, New York officially eased its lockdown restrictions on May 16th. Residents are now allowed to leave their homes to get fresh air and exercise, but social distancing must still be maintained.
New Yorkers flocked to parks and failed to maintain the 2-meter social distancing rule.
However, the reality is that New Yorkers are not strictly adhering to social distancing guidelines. Crowds are flocking to parks and public areas, failing to maintain the 2-meter distance or wear masks as required. Because of this situation, Domino Park in Brooklyn, New York, has creatively painted "social distancing circles" on the grass to ensure safe distancing.

Last weekend, when people visited Domino Park in Brooklyn, New York, they saw circles drawn on the grass. This meant they couldn't freely sit around or socialize. Each person was required to stay within their designated safe circle. A safe distance was maintained between these circles to ensure groups weren't too close together. However, everyone seemed to enjoy it and complied voluntarily.

The amusing scene at Domino Park quickly went viral on local social media thanks to the widely shared videos and images. A Twitter account named Jennifer 8. Lee also posted a video capturing the interesting scene at the park with the caption: “At Domino Park Brooklyn, the social distancing area has become a ‘people parking lot’.” She further commented in a later post: “If these images were seen in 2019, we might think this is a scene from a science fiction TV show, not real life.”
Each circle in Domino Park can accommodate a group of 3-4 people. This social distancing measure has proven effective in the current fight against the Covid-19 pandemic in New York.
