The conference includes Famtrip activities and seminars. The Famtrip program is for HHKs, HHK associations, travel agencies, management agencies... to experience, learn, and survey tourist attractions in Ha Long and the infrastructure of Van Don airport. For nearly 2 days (February 28 - March 1), the working group visited the World Natural Heritage Ha Long Bay, experienced the Sun World Halong Complex entertainment complex, and surveyed the Ha Long International Passenger Port and Van Don airport.
Speaking at the opening of the conference, Mr. Nguyen Duc Long, Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Ninh province affirmed: "The province has also issued many preferential policies for airlines opening flights to Quang Ninh such as free transportation from Van Don International Airport to Ha Long and many other localities in the province; free tickets to visit Ha Long Bay, Yen Tu historical site for all tourists coming to Vietnam via Van Don airport. Support businesses to implement investment projects in the province to create a chain of aviation - tourism - service products...".

Also within the framework of this event, the representative of the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam also pledged to create the most favorable conditions for granting operating licenses to Quang Ninh for airlines, and coordinate with the People's Committee of Quang Ninh province and the General Department of Tourism to develop long-term plans for developing the international flight network.
Van Don International Airport, Quang Ninh
After nearly 2 months of operation, Van Don airport has welcomed over 15,000 passengers with the 3 largest airlines in Vietnam operating here, including Vietnam Airlines, Vietjet Air and Bamboo Airways. The airport's operating frequency is about 30 flights arriving and departing per week. The capacity of each flight is nearly 70%. Currently, a number of new airlines have announced plans to open routes to Van Don, including DongHai Airlines (China) and Bangkok Airways (Thailand). For domestic airlines, Vietnam Airlines said it is researching with HaNa Tour (Korea) to open a direct flight from Van Don to Korea, while VietJet Air has conducted a survey to promote the opening of a Taiwan - Van Don route. The main driving force for airlines to open routes to Van Don airport is the tourism potential of Quang Ninh and especially Ha Long city.
Before Van Don, there were a number of airport projects with the participation of private investors, but Van Don will be the first airport directly invested, operated and managed by a private investor, Sun Group Corporation, completely different from the remaining 21 airports under the management of Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV).
According to an aviation industry leader, while state investment resources are limited, airport privatization is an effective solution, especially the introduction of a private management model that can overcome limitations in service quality at some airports today. In the world, airport privatization has had many successful models such as in the UK, Australia, etc.
The opening of the Van Don International Airport in Quang Ninh will create new development momentum, contributing to improving national competitiveness, which is the common desire of the locality, businesses and people.
This conference has brought about opportunities for connection, helping domestic and foreign travel agencies and airlines find common benefits from opening new attractive routes and tours from Van Don airport. And more importantly, this is also an opportunity for all parties to join hands to develop the tourism potential of Quang Ninh, through strategic cooperation agreements with great economic value.
Within the framework of the Conference, there were preliminary commitment agreements signed between Quang Ninh province and Van Don International Airport, between airlines and major travel agencies opening markets in Quang Ninh. Specifically, signing a memorandum of understanding on commitments of Van Don International Airport with customers (airlines, TAs) and signing a contract between Van Don International Airport and DHT.
Van Don International Airport:
This is a level 4E airport (according to ICAO standard code), a level II military airport. Van Don International Airport can accommodate large aircraft such as Boeing 787, 777 and Airbus A350, A320. Terminal capacity in phase 1 reaches 2.5 million passengers/year; cargo handling area capacity of 10,000 tons/year.
Van Don is a potential tourist area of Quang Ninh, this is also the area chosen to build a new economic zone model and is in the process of approving the Project to build a Chief of the special zone, without conducting the People's Council. This area receives many incentives on the approved mechanism, is one of 3 economic zones in the country.
