Currently, free Wi-Fi for tourists has been installed at three tourist attractions in Ha Long Bay: Thien Cung Cave, Dau Go Cave, and Ti-top Island. According to the Ha Long Bay Management Board, the Wi-Fi system is based on microwave technology, providing wide coverage and stable quality suitable for the terrain and weather conditions in Ha Long Bay. Mr. Bui Van Tinh, a tourist visiting Ha Long Bay, said: “I find having Wi-Fi while traveling in Ha Long Bay very convenient. I can immediately share pictures of Ha Long Bay with my family and friends. I can also access and search for information, read newspapers... it's very useful.”
Along with Wi-Fi, the Ha Long Bay Management Board is also installing a surveillance camera system at tourist attractions in the bay. The recorded images will be transmitted directly to the mainland for monitoring and supervision by relevant departments. This facilitates the monitoring, management, and handling of security and order-related issues, ensuring the safety of tourists. It also serves as a foundation for implementing electronic ticketing for tourists visiting the bay.
Mr. Pham Dinh Huynh, Deputy Head of the Ha Long Bay Management Board, said: “Currently, the quality of telecommunication signals in Ha Long Bay is limited, so we have installed a Wi-Fi system to allow tourists to access the internet for free. Along with that, we have also installed a camera surveillance system to monitor tourists visiting the bay, enhancing security and safety for visitors, as well as improving management.”
According to the plan, by the end of this year, free Wi-Fi and surveillance cameras will be installed at all tourist attractions in Ha Long Bay (17 locations). Installation at locations designated for overnight cruise ships will be considered later.
