Last year, the Vietnam Airports Corporation (ACV) achieved significant success, with the total number of passengers passing through its airport system reaching 109 million, equivalent to 96% of the annual plan. In particular, the number of international passengers increased sharply by 26%, reaching 41 million, demonstrating the rapid recovery of the aviation industry after the impact of the pandemic.
However, domestic passenger numbers decreased by 15%, reaching 68 million, reflecting certain difficulties faced by the domestic market. The total number of flights operated reached 663,000, a 7% decrease compared to the plan.
2024 marks a significant milestone in the development of Vietnam's aviation industry, with the number of passengers passing through airports reaching an impressive 109 million.
In 2024, ACV had a highly successful year. Revenue reached VND 21,466 billion, an 8% increase compared to the previous year, thanks to the strong recovery of the aviation industry after the pandemic, along with ACV's continuous efforts to improve service quality, expand its flight network, and efficiently utilize resources. Pre-tax profit reached VND 11,981 billion, a 35% increase, demonstrating the efficiency of the company's business operations. At the same time, ACV contributed VND 4,489 billion to the state budget, affirming the important role of the enterprise in socio-economic development.
Regarding the implementation of investment and development tasks for airport infrastructure, specifically Component 3 of the Long Thanh International Airport project, the progress of project items is closely following the Government's directives. Simultaneously, the National Assembly has approved the adjustment of the investment policy for the Long Thanh International Airport project, shifting the investment timeframe for runway 3 from phase 2 to phase 1. It is expected that the entire construction site's rough structure will be completed in 2025, ensuring compliance with the Corporation's commitments to the Government and the Prime Minister.
This is clear evidence of the strong recovery and remarkable growth of the aviation industry.
Furthermore, in 2024, ACV signed a contract with the Incheon Airport Consortium to provide "Consulting services for the management and operation of Long Thanh International Airport". This is an important step contributing to ensuring the goal of preparing and being ready for the handover of operations, enabling Long Thanh International Airport to operate smoothly and safely from the very first day of operation.
Next year promises to be a busy and promising one for the Vietnam Airports Corporation (ACV). ACV will simultaneously implement numerous large-scale investment projects to upgrade and expand the airport system nationwide. Besides completing key projects such as the Tan Son Nhat T3 terminal and the expansion of the Noi Bai T2 terminal, ACV will also commence construction of new terminals in Cat Bi, Ca Mau, and Dong Hoi. These projects will not only meet the growing demands of the aviation market but also contribute to improving service quality, modernizing infrastructure, and promoting socio-economic development in these localities.
