Three Vietnamese photographs win prestigious awards.

The prestigious Sony World Photography Awards 2018 has just announced the winning photographs, with Vietnam proudly having three entries among the winners.

The Sony World Photography Awards is a prestigious international photography competition held annually on a large scale worldwide. This year, the competition attracted professional and amateur photographers from over 70 countries. Below is a photograph by Kyaw Win Hlaing of the active Mount Bromo volcano in East Java (Indonesia). According to the photographer: "This photo was taken at Mount Bromo, an active volcano and part of the Tengger mountain range in East Java, Indonesia. The mountain's name originates from the Indonesian belief in Brahma, the Hindu god of creation."

The striking photograph titled "Tokyo After the Storm" by photographer Zhaoting Wu captures the moment the first rays of sunlight pierce through the clouds and illuminate the city of Tokyo (Japan) after a major storm.

A woman working in the snow and wind in China is the subject of a photograph by Zhou Jianguang.

The winning entry in the Portrait category was taken by photographer Tina Signesdottir Hult. The Norwegian photographer said: "This is a picture I took of Lina. She is very special and means a lot to me. We have worked together for many years, since she was 9 years old. The way we communicate, almost like a dance in silence, we understand each other very well."

The artwork "Walking on the U-Bein Bridge" in Myanmar. U-Bein is a wooden bridge connecting the two banks of the Taungthamna River on the outskirts of Myanmar's former capital, Mandalay, dating back to 1850. It is the longest and oldest wooden bridge. Singaporean photographer Chin Bong Leng waited for hours to capture the moment of a horse race at sunset in Xinjiang. The stunning photograph showcases the vastness of nature and the open-mindedness of the people and animals of the region.

The second winning photograph in the Travel category was an aerial shot by photographer Pham Huy Trung, depicting a woman rowing a boat on a river amidst mangrove forests in Dong Thap (Vietnam).

Coming in third is a photograph of a Vietnamese countryside field by photographer Vinh Dao.

According to the organizers, the winning works of the Sony World Photography Awards 2018 will be exhibited in London from April 20 to May 6, 2018.
