Recently, the travel website Thrillist (USA) has chosen Lan Ha Bay as the most beautiful destination in Vietnam. After two months of traveling around Southeast Asia, the land has more than 40 World Heritage Sites recognized by UNESCO.
The author of the article - Kastalia Medrano wrote: "The floating village on Cat Ba Island has about 200 houses with a history of thousands of years ago. The bay owns hundreds of islands, of which Cat Ba is the largest. Visitors can rent a boat to explore or spend the whole day swimming here. There are more than 100 hotels in the vicinity for visitors who want to stay here longer."
In addition to Vietnam's Lan Ha Bay, Medrano also suggests tourists visit other tourist destinations in Southeast Asia such as Angkor Wat (Cambodia), Kuang Si Waterfall (Laos), the ancient capital of Bagan (Myanmar), Chiang Mai (Thailand), Borneo Island (Malaysia), Gardens by the Bay (Singapore), Banaue Rice Terraces (Philippines), Kelimutu National Park (Indonesia), Kampong Ayer Floating City (Brunei) and Atauro Island (East Timor).
Located in the East of Cat Ba Island, South of Ha Long Bay, with an area of over 7,000 hectares, Lan Ha Bay is located between two large nature reserves of the world. On Lan Ha Bay, Cat Ba includes about 376 large and small islands rising from the clear blue sea water, creating a wonderful landscape depicting a fairy scene.
Every island in Cat Ba is covered in green.
Unlike Ha Long Bay, all the big and small islands in Lan Ha and Cat Ba are covered with trees or vegetation, even if they are just small islands like a rockery. Another difference with Ha Long Bay is that there are 139 small, pretty and pristine golden sand beaches like "blue straits" inviting tourists to explore.
Previously, many destinations in Vietnam were also recognized by foreign magazines. In the list of "10 underdeveloped destinations in Asia" published by Canada Travel magazine in April, the Mekong Delta ranked second. The magazine rated the Mekong Delta as a potential destination, with beautiful landscapes and many activities to explore but not prominent on the tourist map.
British writer Lauren Feather said that foreign tourists often pay the most attention to Ha Long Bay when thinking of Vietnam, but the Mekong Delta is a natural "gem". In Lauren's description, the Mekong Delta has beautiful scenery, is a peaceful and quiet resort with many unspoiled countryside, away from the hustle and bustle. She assessed that this place has a lot of potential for tourism exploitation such as Khmer pagodas, floating markets, mangrove forests, fresh seafood and typical cuisine.
