On the morning of September 12, at a working session with the Standing Committee of the Can Gio District Party Committee, Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Nguyen Van Nen made many suggestions about the plan to restore and develop the economy of this suburban district.
Secretary of the Can Gio District Party Committee Le Minh Dung said that in phase 1 (from September 16 to October 31), in addition to the types of activities that are opened according to the city's instructions, the district also proposed to pilot the opening of some additional activities such as: fishing, aquaculture, local vehicles, traditional markets, construction of individual houses in the population...
At the same time, the district plans to operate one tour or tourist spot to contribute to restoring services, consider reopening outdoor entertainment activities, and on-site dining on a small scale but ensuring social distancing according to regulations (under 20 people), depending on the level of disease control and recommendations of the health sector.

Regarding tourism restoration, Mr. Dung said the district has a plan to build a closed tour, a closed route, passengers only stay in certain areas. "It is expected that by September 30, the first pilot tour can be opened," Mr. Dung said.
Regarding this plan, Mr. Nen said that Can Gio has basically controlled the epidemic and needs to continue to try to keep the area clean to develop services and tourism. "It is possible to narrow down each area to immediately implement a domestic tourism program during the Covid-19 period," Mr. Nen suggested.
The City Party Committee leaders asked Can Gio to prepare safe destinations, people to travel safely, and if there are risks, prepare a response plan. Currently, the city's people have gone through more than 3 months of social distancing, so they want to go out to enjoy the fresh air, enjoy some food and then return to the city at the end of the day. The city will invite frontline forces to join this tour after many months of fighting the epidemic, helping them regain their health.

Another suburban district, Cu Chi, is also considering reopening tunnel tourism, but in Cu Chi, safety is more difficult because it is adjacent to Hoc Mon, an area that is still quite complicated in terms of epidemics. Meanwhile, Can Gio has a closed terrain, isolated from the city, so it has more favorable conditions, so it needs to be implemented soon.
About 50 km from the city center, Can Gio is the only district of Ho Chi Minh City bordering the sea with a length of 23 km. The district is more than 71,300 hectares wide, of which 70% is mangrove forest and rivers, owns many traditional craft villages, unique festivals, favorable for developing eco-tourism, culture - beliefs. The district is one of 3 localities along with Cu Chi and District 7 that have announced that the epidemic has been controlled and are preparing a plan for economic recovery after September 15.
