According to the detailed plan announced by the Organizing Committee of the 50th Anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day of Can Tho City, a wide-ranging and diverse propaganda campaign will be deployed throughout April 2025, aiming to spread the heroic atmosphere and significance of this important historical event (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025) to all classes of people.
Visual propaganda work will be focused on with the simultaneous hanging of solemn national flags, colorful flag decorations, banners bearing historical imprints, large-scale billboards depicting memorable moments and meaningful slogans on all the roads and streets of Can Tho city. In parallel, a high focus will be given to propaganda work on mass media, from newspapers, radio, television to digital media platforms, ensuring that information about the event is spread quickly and effectively. Departments, branches, sectors, reporters and propagandists at all levels will also actively participate in this work, conveying core contents in accordance with the direction of the Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department of the City Party Committee.
Instead of setting off fireworks on the night of April 28 as planned, Can Tho will set off high-altitude fireworks on the night of April 26.
The highlight of the series of commemorative activities will be the official celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day in Can Tho city, scheduled to take place on April 26, 2025, with a solemn and meaningful program. The ceremony will begin with a ceremony to visit the city's Martyrs' Cemetery at 6 a.m., expressing deep gratitude to the heroes who fell for the independence and freedom of the Fatherland.
Next, at 7:00 a.m., the delegation will solemnly pay their respects to the beloved Uncle Ho Statue at Ninh Kieu Wharf, expressing their respect and infinite gratitude to the great leader of the nation. The highlight of the holiday will be the 50th Anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025) with the proud and enthusiastic theme: "Can Tho - Continuing the heroic spring song", held in the large and solemn space of Hau River Park at 7:00 p.m.
This special program will be broadcast live on Can Tho Radio and Television, allowing a large number of people to follow and join in the solemn atmosphere of the ceremony. Immediately after the end of the special art performance, a colorful high-altitude fireworks display will take place at 9:30 p.m. on the same day, promising to bring memorable and emotional moments to the people and visitors.
High-altitude fireworks display funding is socialized, not using the budget.
Explaining the adjustment of the high-altitude fireworks display time compared to the original plan, the People's Committee of Can Tho City said that this decision was made under the close direction of the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee and the Organizing Committee of the activities to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification, to ensure the solemnity and highest meaning for this important event. Another noteworthy information is that the entire funding for the high-altitude fireworks display will be implemented through socialized sources, demonstrating the joint efforts of the community and businesses, completely without using the state budget.
Towards the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day, Can Tho city will synchronously deploy many meaningful activities, including a visit to the city's Martyrs' Cemetery, a visit to Uncle Ho's Monument, a traditional meeting, a mass parade, a unique comprehensive art program and a brilliant high-altitude fireworks display.
