On the afternoon of April 21st, the People's Committee of Ninh Kieu District, Can Tho City, held a press conference regarding the launch of a pedestrian street during the April 30th holiday.
Ninh Kieu pedestrian street is located on Hai Ba Trung street, Ninh Kieu park in Tan An ward, adjacent to the Can Tho river with a length of about 700 meters, creating a unique characteristic of the Southern Vietnamese riverine city, facilitating interaction with other riverine tourist destinations in the region.
The Ninh Kieu pedestrian street, upon its launch, will be a highlight of nighttime tourism in Can Tho in general and Ninh Kieu in particular. It will host cultural and artistic activities, events, and festivals, creating a community space, expanding all types of businesses, and promoting local traditional cultural values, contributing to the preservation and honoring of the history and culture of the people of Can Tho.

The street will be divided into 3 areas:
Area 1: From the intersection of Nguyen An Ninh and Hai Ba Trung streets to the intersection of Ngo Quyen and Hai Ba Trung streets, including shopping, food, and traditional Southern Vietnamese folk music performances above Ninh Kieu Park.
Area 2: At the Ho Chi Minh Monument, traditional activities such as offering incense and reporting achievements to President Ho Chi Minh on holidays and anniversaries take place.
Area 3: From the beginning of Thu Khoa Huan Street to Hoa Cau Restaurant and above the park section from Hoa Cau Restaurant to the pedestrian bridge, includes cultural and artistic activities, event organization, festivals, folk games, and magic shows.
The opening of the street will be organized in two phases. In the pilot phase lasting 3 months (from May to July), Ninh Kieu pedestrian street will be open on April 30th. Activities on the street will take place every Saturday evening, from 6 PM to 10 PM, and may be extended to Saturdays and Sundays.
The post-pilot phase will involve summarizing and evaluating the results of the pedestrian street's operation, understanding the needs of tourists and residents to develop projects, cultural and artistic activities, types of services, etc., and organizing additional weekly or nightly events to serve tourists.
