The “Talented Screenwriter” contest was initiated by CGV in 2017 and has gone through two exciting seasons with enthusiastic responses from professionals and young people who love the 7th art. With the number of entries for the two seasons 2017 – 2018 reaching nearly 8,000 ideas, this is one of the leading playgrounds for young people who dream of becoming professional screenwriters.
This year, CGV, in collaboration with the Center for Media Literacy and Education (CML – Korea) and POPS Worldwide, continues to produce season 3 of “Talented Screenwriter”, with the support of Xine House Film Training Center and Truong Giang Communications Company. The competition’s Judging Panel consists of famous directors, producers, and screenwriters, including director Charlie Nguyen, producer Tran Thi Bich Ngoc, director Phan Gia Nhat Linh, director Nguyen Quang Dung, screenwriter Tran Khanh Hoang, and director Ly Hai.
Season 3 of “Talented Screenwriter” brings many attractive improvements such as: upgrading the training program with theory, practice and group study with in-depth training to provide the best knowledge foundation for contestants. Throughout the competition, the organizers will record a reality show to provide an overall picture of the path to becoming a screenwriter for young people. In addition to the big prizes like the previous two seasons, the champion of the competition also has the opportunity to improve their skills with 1 year of free study at the Xine House film training center. After the final round, CGV will continue to implement a program to support excellent contestants in the process of completing detailed scripts.
Representative of the organizing committee, Mr. Sim Joon Beom, General Director of CGV shared: “Two years is not a long time, but through each competition season, we see many changes: the number of submitted entries is increasing, and the interest of the filmmaking community for the program is getting deeper and deeper. Along with that, some contestants from the competition have achieved certain achievements. These are encouraging signals to develop and enrich human resources for the Vietnamese cinema industry in the current brilliant development stage. For that reason, CGV has and will organize the annual "Talented Screenwriter" competition to support young screenwriters towards building a strong team of screenwriters in the future."
This year's competition will be officially launched from May 5, 2019 to September 18, 2019. Candidates will be directly guided by the Evaluation Council to develop a detailed outline. In the final round, excellent candidates will have the opportunity to receive valuable cash prizes, and at the same time introduce their works to film producers and receive partial financial support from CGV when the script is selected for filming. In addition, the Top 3 best candidates will participate in a short-term training course in Korea.

The “Talented Screenwriter 2019” competition is divided into 3 main stages:
- Phase 1: Admission (May 5, 2019 – June 15, 2019): Candidates submit ideas of up to 1,000 words to the organizing committee. The Evaluation Council will select the 24 best ideas for round 2.
- Phase 2: Training and script development (July 1, 2019 - September 6, 2019): Candidates will participate in a training course to improve their knowledge and skills in screenwriting. After that, candidates will be divided into 6 teams and guided to develop their ideas into detailed outlines. After round 2, the 12 best candidates will be selected for round 3.
- Phase 3: Competition and Award Ceremony (September 17, 2019 - September 18, 2019): The 12 best script outlines will be selected and presented to the judging panel and leading film producers. Highly rated entries will be ranked and awarded the Gold - Silver - Bronze - Promising - Encouragement prizes of the competition.
