The "Talented Screenwriter" competition, initiated by CGV in 2017, has gone through two vibrant seasons with enthusiastic participation from professionals and young people who love the seventh art. With nearly 8,000 entries submitted in the 2017-2018 seasons, it is currently one of the leading platforms for young people aspiring to become professional film screenwriters.
This year, CGV, in collaboration with the Center for Media Literacy and Education (CML – South Korea) and POPS Worldwide, continues to produce season 3 of “Talented Screenwriter,” with the support of the Cinema House Film Training Center and Truong Giang Communications. The judging panel consists of renowned directors, producers, and screenwriters, including director Charlie Nguyen, producer Tran Thi Bich Ngoc, director Phan Gia Nhat Linh, director Nguyen Quang Dung, screenwriter Tran Khanh Hoang, and director Ly Hai.
Season 3 of "Talented Screenwriter" brings many attractive improvements, such as: an upgraded training program with in-depth theoretical, practical, and group learning sessions to provide contestants with the best knowledge foundation. Throughout the competition, the organizers will film a reality show to provide a comprehensive picture of the path to becoming a screenwriter for young people. In addition to the large prizes from the previous two seasons, the winner will also have the opportunity to enhance their skills with a year of free tuition at the Xinê House film training center. After the final round, CGV will continue to implement a program to support outstanding contestants in perfecting their detailed scripts.
Speaking on behalf of the organizing committee, Mr. Sim Joon Beom, General Director of CGV, shared: “Two years is not a long time, but with each competition season, we see many changes: the number of entries submitted has increased, and the interest of the filmmaking community in the program has grown deeper. In addition, some contestants from the competition have achieved certain successes. These are encouraging signs for developing and enriching the human resources for Vietnamese cinema in its current vibrant stage of development. For that reason, CGV has and will continue to organize the annual “Talented Screenwriter” competition to support young screenwriters and build a strong screenwriting team for the future.”
This year's competition officially runs from May 5th, 2019 to September 18th, 2019. Contestants will receive direct guidance from the Judging Panel in developing detailed outlines. In the final round, outstanding contestants will have the opportunity to receive valuable cash prizes, introduce their works to film producers, and receive partial funding support from CGV if their scripts are selected for filming. Additionally, the top 3 contestants will participate in a short-term training course in South Korea.

The "Talented Screenwriter 2019" competition is divided into three main stages:
- Phase 1: Recruitment (May 5, 2019 – June 15, 2019): Contestants submit ideas of up to 1,000 words to the organizing committee. The Judging Panel will select the 24 best ideas for Round 2.
- Phase 2: Script Training and Development (July 1, 2019 - September 6, 2019): Contestants will participate in a training course to enhance their scriptwriting knowledge and skills. Afterwards, contestants will be divided into 6 teams and guided in developing their ideas into detailed outlines. After Round 2, the 12 best contestants will be selected for Round 3.
- Phase 3: Competition and Award Ceremony (September 17-18, 2019): The 12 best script outlines will be selected and presented to the judging panel and leading film producers. Highly rated entries will be awarded Gold, Silver, Bronze, Promising, and Encouragement prizes.
