Inspectors from the Da Nang Department of Transport have issued a fine and revoked the driver's license of a ride-hailing driver accused of overcharging by a Thai tourist.

On November 21st, a representative from the Da Nang Department of Transport confirmed that, after coordinating with the Da Nang Department of Tourism, inspectors from the department had issued an administrative violation report against the male driver accused by a Thai tourist of overcharging for transportation.

Previously, a post on a social media group mentioned a Thai tourist's complaint about a driver of vehicle 43A-309.27 agreeing on a price of 1.5 million VND for a trip from their hotel in Da Nang to Ba Na Hills and Hoi An.

However, at the end of the trip, this tourist reported having to pay 3.8 million VND for the journey.

Simultaneously, the owner of the vehicle was identified as Mr. TAT, a member of the Cooperative for Joint Business (registered in Da Nang).

According to the head of the Da Nang Department of Transport, the TAT driver was fined for the offense of "driving a vehicle participating in contract-based transportation business without a transportation contract and passenger list".

For this offense, the penalty ranges from 1 to 2 million VND and the driver's license will be revoked for 1 to 3 months.

In addition, the Cooperative for Business was also issued an administrative violation report for the offense of "using a vehicle for passenger transport under contract without a transport contract and passenger list," with a proposed administrative fine of 10-12 million VND.

Previously, the vehicle's license plate had also been revoked while authorities verified the tourist's complaint.

Authorities are cracking down on ride-hailing drivers at Da Nang Airport.

Over the past period, the authorities in Da Nang City have repeatedly dealt with the situation of drivers soliciting customers and collecting money in violation of agreements between them and passengers.

In particular, authorities inspected and dealt with violations in passenger transport business at Da Nang airport, putting an end to the touting that caused disorder.

Motorcycle taxi services using ride-hailing apps are also allocated designated operating areas to ensure aesthetics and security.
