The red train in the white snow

12/03/2020

The Bernina Express train journey from Switzerland to Italy takes visitors across a World Heritage railway line and enjoy breathtaking views of the Alps.

The Bernina Express runs on a 7% incline with a 360% spiral, passing through 55 tunnels and 196 bridges at an altitude of 2,250 m and gradually decreasing to 1,800 m before reaching its final destination. It is often said that the word “express” in the train’s name refers to the need to book seats quickly rather than the speed of the train. Visitors will discover the wonders of rustic natural landscapes, to majestic mountain peaks leaning over to admire the clear blue lake.
