Each bus will carry 20 passengers from Delhi, India, to London, UK, with all the amenities of a luxury bus. This long-distance bus route was inspired by the Hippie Trail buses that traveled the world in the 1950s and 1960s, created by Adventures Overland co-founders Sanjay Madan and Tushar Agarwal.
The bus route will travel through 18 countries, including Myanmar, Thailand, Laos, China, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Russia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, the Czech Republic, Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, and France, over 70 days. Passengers can disembark to admire the ancient temples of Myanmar, see pandas in Chengdu, hike up the Great Wall of China, travel along the Caspian Sea route, and wander through historic cities such as Moscow, Vilnius, Prague, Brussels, and Frankfurt.
Adventures Overland's buses are fully equipped with luxurious amenities.
Tushar Agarwal said the idea was inspired by his solo drive from London to Delhi in 2010.
Since its inception, the company has organized three caravan trips from Delhi to London, including groups of travelers who drove their own vehicles. “There are many people who want to experience these cross-country journeys but don’t want to drive. So, we came up with the idea of bringing everyone together on a comfortable, long-distance bus. That’s how the Delhi-London route was born.”
Agarwal said the ideal time to make the trip is from April to June, because that's when the weather is favorable to begin the journey from India through Myanmar, crossing the high mountains of China and Kyrgyzstan.
The bus route will travel over 20,000 km through 18 countries in 70 days.
The trip is also quite expensive – around $20,000, however passengers can choose to participate in only a portion of the journey, which is divided into four legs: a 12-day leg in Southeast Asia, a 16-day leg in China, a 22-day leg in Central Asia, and a 16-day leg in Europe. Additionally, you can choose to start the journey from India or the United Kingdom. When the trip ends, travelers will return home by air, and the vehicle will continue to serve the next group of passengers.
The target audience for this "tour" includes children from 5 years old up to adults 75 years old.
Agarwal stated that this trip was a tested and safe one. Furthermore, when the group crossed the border of each country, local guides were assigned to accompany the group to provide logistical support.
This long-distance bus route is inspired by the Hippie Trail buses that traveled the world in the 1950s and 1960s.
Since announcing the idea, Agarwal and his team have received numerous messages from travelers around the world – approximately 40,000 people have registered their interest in the trip so far.
Agarwal advises anyone who has ever dreamed of a "hippie" trip to join this tour, and all you need to bring is an open mind and heart. "It's a life-changing journey – something you'll remember and cherish forever."
